This worked very well for the first month but soon stopped working. As other reviews have said, this is not a genuine Belkin product, just a cheap knockoff. If you're just looking for a temporary adapter / not looking for something to use long term then $10 is a great deal and perfect. However, if you're hoping for a real adapter to use, I'd recommend spending a little more bucks for something that will work for 1 month. Does what I need. I sometimes use it to connect my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon to the HDMI cable I have for my TV. I keep it in my backpack so I can sometimes connect to the projectors in the classroom (I'm at university). I can't comment on long term or constant use as I use it very sparingly but it has always worked well for me and saved my ass when I need to present something and the projector doesn't have a mini display input.

I bought this because my late 2009 MacBook screen broke and I still wanted to use my computer through my TV monitor. The Apple Store said the sound would be compatible, but it's not. My computer doesn't have the capability. So if you have a MacBook my age, don't listen to the folks at Apple. You need a separate audio jack (very inexpensive). I'm a fan of Belkin, but this item is cheap and doesn't even work. Image flickers, horizontal lines are missing or blinking red on the screen. I put one on 4K and left it in the conference room at work, I didn't need 4K so I went with the cheaper one. Bad move. I'm about to order another one from 4K and hope it's the same as the first one I had.
