This is a really good value for money cable set. The cases don't noticeably compress under hard braking, although I'm sure they do compress a bit. It's also very easy to get a clean cut when shortening the case, unlike others I've worked with. They're hard to beat for the price - I think you'd have to spend a lot more to get a significantly better (or better performing) set of cables and cases. I bought three more kits for other bike projects after using one for my commuter car.

NOT FOR DISC BRAKES

I've been buying these for years to fix my vintage and even my current road bike. It took me 4 years of messing around with bikes to find a bug and actually a pretty big one. These cables are not suitable for disc brakes. None of the brake cables are long enough to reach the designated caliper. I ended up having to use a rear cable for the front brake and buy a separate cable to connect the rear brake. a big pain in the ass if you just want to drive. I think the bell should solve this problemโ€ฆ

Great offer! Best bike tools and maintenance

I bought these to replace the brake and shifter cables on my Next Amplifier bike. My cables were rusty and stiff from the rain. Thought for $8 I'd give it a try and see if they're any good and I'm glad I did. I am very happy with the quality of both the cables and the case, especially at this price point. You don't need a compressionless rear derailleur housing that costs four times the price of this entire kit. This switch cable housing works perfectly. When I installed my cables, I lubricated

Works well on a classic Schwinn Cruiser

I was amazed how easy it is. You'll need plenty of wire cutters, some lithium grease (I used it in a can I use on garage doors and cars), and a few minutes to get the first one right. It comes with regular end types. You cut off the unneeded end style and then trim the cable shield to the length of the old one. You lubricate the cable by inserting it. It comes with grommet inserts for the end of the cable and even has caps to fit the worn end of the cable (at the end of the clamp). Theโ€ฆ

Steal - universal cables and a lot of housing.

I'm repairing some old bikes (one from the 1960's and one from 1976) and need new brake and shift cables that have a different end than most currently sold. Modern cords cost about $1 each when bought in sets of 10 and usually come with only Shimono-type grips or heads. Some older bikes require Campenolo type cables with different grips. It's possible to buy "universal" cables like this Caden Universal Bike Brake Cable - a set of 2 that has a campenolo grip on one end and a shimono grip on theโ€ฆ
