The engine almost sounds like it's shifting when it revs up

Benefits I think the CFM rating for them is accurate! The engine almost sounds like it's shifting when you rev it up. It builds and then REALLY builds! If you can only fit a fan, it will keep everything cool! minuses. I was expecting it to be loud with a 45dBA rating, but it was a lot louder than my Delta AFB1212SHE 151 CFM fans, which are rated at 53dBA! Thoughts If you want FAST and don't care about noise, buy this! It's a beast! Just be sure to buy a grill with a fan as well.

Pros
  • That's done
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Good job, questionable life

CFM met expectations. I bought 6 of these fans and the first one recently broke, working 24/7 for less than a year. For the price, expect a longer lifespan.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I'm worried

Loud and Proud: Computers and Accessories

Installed one of these as a rear exhaust fan along with two 140mm bgears blaster fans up front. As I said in my 140mm fan review, that sounds excessive, but my computer is huge and densely packed with PCI drives and cards, including the SAS 9361-8i, which gets VERY hot and needs a lot of airflow, to keep it cool enough... to prevent it from constantly throttling and rebooting (a common problem with servers that don't have enough cooling air). All together they're loud enough that I can stillโ€ฆ

The internet lies about how loud 45 dB is.

The internet says that 45db is normal conversation volume, well, that might be true, but only if that conversation was a constant, Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. This is definitely too loud if you're looking for anything even close to quiet . Keep things at 35dB. That being said, this thing moves an impressive amount of air for its size. I used a 120mm Delta fan and 60db is way too loud to even think about. It's what I would call "slightly

Suitable for fans of the PSU IWILL ZMAXDP

I repaired my computer IWILL ZMAXDP Dual Opteron. Powering required two 70mm fans. I chose them for their size and high airflow to match the original. This cools the computer down, but of course they are loud at maximum speed. I'd say they sound pretty close to a blow dryer on low/medium speed. If you're expecting quiet fans, look elsewhere. They are designed for heavy-duty applications where good airflow is required.

For people who need range and performance

This fan is excellent and still better than the NF-A14 Industrial I used. These fans literally have to be loud because they move so much air, and if you get a fan in bad shape it's definitely the seller's fault. All in all, this fan is the only one that can really try to keep up with my two 140mm b-blasters, and I converted it to an air intake that sends an F-5 tornado straight onto my CPU heatsink. None of the other weak, "quiet" fans can match the absolute wind flow this one has. If you'reโ€ฆ

Moves a lot of air and is not too loud

I used this for a project where I wanted to move more air than most 120mm fans without being too loud to be in the same space. I've found some high performance CFM fans that move a lot of air but are too loud to pass around. This fan is a good middle ground: it moves almost the same amount of air, but you can still be near it.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Not everything fits
