It's like night and day

Incredible improvement on my 2004 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab with torsion bars. I also have 285 75 R16 tires so I was a lot taller than the original ride. The hits seem smaller, the speed bumps aren't too bad either. I mounted them on Goodyear tires as I didn't have the proper tools to do it myself, but the truck looks brand new. Now I recommend Bilstein to everyone. They were so good I bought new rear shocks of the same brand/series and the truck feels even better.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Poor instructions

'07 GMC 3500 Classic Dually

While waiting to write a review I spent about 20,000 hard on shock absorbers. '07 GMC Sierra 3500 Classic SLT with double cab and double lengthened diesel engine. Rear shank height, raised torsion bars, slightly more regular rubber. The truck is used for motor transport and there are no complaints about shock absorbers. I ran Bilstein on my Saab 9-5 and put a Bilstein/airbag on my Audi van and these shocks were amazing so I decided to try them on my work truck. Since the Betty was basically…

Bilstein 5100 sucks.

My rating is for the 5100, not those HDs that show. My rating is they suck! Really, I'm serious, they drive so damn relentlessly that I've gone from a decent truck to a real brick on wheels. I regret buying these shock absorbers. I should have gone for a Rancho XL9000 or Fox 2.0. These 5100s are the stiffest shocks you can get On a truck I have a 2002 2500HD 4x4 6.0 and the shocks weren't bad but I just wanted to upgrade to 5100 which I've heard so much about and learn live that is all i can…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Easy to install, good looks, better protective material than standard.

They replaced my original 200,000 mile shock absorbers which by the way still soaked up road problems pretty well. The problem, however, was nose-dip and swaying under braking and turning. These dampers helped a lot in that area and made the ride a little smoother. I like the best protective material. They were pretty easy to install after watching a few YouTube videos. UPDATE: After a bit of off-roading in Colorado, I noticed that the right front shock was making noise. The sound was the thud…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic transmission
