Didn't know how much I needed the shock absorbers

They fit my raised 2001 Wrangler perfectly. I was able to install them in just over an hour with a few tools. The original reason I bought them was because my old shocks rattled. It turned out to be just a rubber bushing at the attachment point. Ride MUCH better after installing new shock absorbers.

  • Confident

Bilstein is the best!

You can't go wrong with Bilstein. A little long for the 4 inch lift springs up front which have slacked off a bit but with the larger tire I run they gave me the down stroke I needed with no loss of travel. If I could I would maybe 1/2 to 1. The piston shows more but that's fine because they have 2 inches longer stroke than shocks for 4 inches of lift.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Speed

Measure before you buy!

I decided to install these on my 01 TJ with a 4.5" spar and unfortunately found that these shocks were about 2" longer than their body. This isn't a problem with Bilstein as I had to measure to make sure I was picking the right shocks for the job, but I just bought 3" front and rear shocks which take that ride much better and unnecessarily added fenders should add . This inherently reduces the "flex" travel you can get with properly sizing and reduces the chance of your new shocks bottoming…

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great ride on and off road.

I have been driving a Bilstein 5100 for 10 years now and my Jeep LJ 05 is one of the best SUVs I have ever driven. One of my old shocks started leaking very little fluid after 10 years of off-road racing in the mountains of Colorado and I couldn't find a receipt for a lifetime warranty so I ended up buying it at a better price with shipping. These shocks perform excellently and I highly recommend them for 4.5-5.5 inch lift TJ/LJs. My original shocks were designed for a 6" stroke and were a bit…

  • Finally bought it
