This refers to a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. 4WD, 5.2, ZJ

These are good shocks, but if you have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD, 5.2, the bushing on the bottom of the rear shock (silver end) is just too wide to hammer in or into clamped the bracket that bolts it to the frame. It's possible though, but you'll have to (carefully) sand the ends of the bushing to make it fit.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Clean

Bought for '97 Grand Cherokee with 4.0 rear shocks

Love riding these shocks, have ridden I-80 big rigs. no longer made my jeep wobble or roll to the side of the road. 1 small problem: is the lower chrome shock eyelet about 1/8 inch larger than the bracket? I took a 3 pound hammer and hit both sides of the bracket a few times and it went right in. Then tightened very well, you can also grind the metal insert to fit, but hammering was easier. The front shocks fit well, although Bilstein replaced them all at once.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older folks
