Audio and video accessories look cheap

Let's see how it holds up. The first one I got wasn't even out of a bag and sounded like a plastic box with a penny in it. I'll keep a close eye on this and if it fails I'll be back!

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Durable

Choose nothing.

Was hoping it would only be good for local use but couldn't even pick up one of the NOAA weather stations and they are strong here. My small portable VHF/UHF transceiver and 3" antenna pick it up with no problem. Maybe I'll use it as a cap. It's not worth it.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • too long to wait

Broke after four months!

I ordered this product and it arrived broken. Nothing is damaged on the outside, but it rattles when shaken, as if something has come loose inside. Then I ordered another one and everything was fine. I put it on and used it for four months and then when I took it off I noticed the same thing. No damage on the outside, but something has come loose inside and is now rattling inside. Very disappointing.

  • Nice item
Cons
  • Style 90

Very disappointed with the antenna.

I am a radio amateur and this product does not work. You can only receive. SWR was 1.6. I could get better at low frequencies (144k) but that's only for CW, not speech. I was disappointed with this product. I knew it would only be transmitting at close range (TX) and wanted it to hit our repeater (two miles away) but they couldn't understand me. I realize this is only a 4 inch ant and I wasn't expecting it to perform like my 5/8 ant.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old

Great little GMRS antenna!

I bought this to use with a Midland GMRS radio. I use it when driving with friends and groups of other 4 wheel SUVs. This worked great for my needs. Excellent reception. I can't give an exact distance, but when I go out with groups of 20 or more cars, sometimes we're at least 5 miles apart and that's not a problem. I installed it on the roof of my Tacoma to get the best possible reception.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Empty

Hot bullshit at 2 meters. OK @ 70cm

SWR at 2m is 4.0+ and reflected power is 33+%. The antenna I usually use has an SWR of 1.04 with the system being balanced on the same frequency. (But it's really long and keeps banging on the garage roof.) Costing little more than a decent rain cover, this antenna has a solid rubber base and grommet. The SWR at 70 cm is better in the 1.4 range. GMRS or UHF, this antenna performs decently and is as unobtrusive as it gets.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time

The antenna is better than the rain cover for about the same price.

The price of this product is excellent. The cost is about the same as an NMO mount raincoat. And it's a better antenna than a raincoat. With this fender mount I have no problems with car washes etc. I live in a small town where the nearest repeaters are about 15 miles away. And most large repeaters are closer to 20 or 25 miles. I noticed a big difference in sensitivity between this and my regular antenna. This is not likely to be an issue in urban areas where repeaters can be closer and more…

No dual band antenna! But it's good for one.

This walkie-talkie has many bad qualities and one surprisingly good and unexpected one. In short, this antenna is terrible at 2 meters. My SWR meter was marked red and I only tried talking to it briefly before turning off the radio for fear of damaging it. Definitely don't go there. The 70cm was slightly better, sometimes with SWR values of 2 or lower, but still not fantastic. The overall feel of the construction is quite cheap, where the black plastic meets the metal ring that houses the…
