Description of πŸ”₯ Bizlander Firewire Cable 800 1394B 9 Pin Male to 4 Pin Male - 6FT Premium DV Cable for Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac PC, Digital Cameras, SLR

FireWire cable 800 9-pin connectors are part of a recent improvement to the IEEE-1394 technology, called FireWire 800 (or IEEE-1394b). The improvement to the specification allows transfer of data at up to twice the speed of the original IEEE-1394 standard. The 9-pin connector is a rectangle with square corners. It has 5 pin contacts on one side, and 4 pin contacts on the other. This new connector type can be adapted to the older 4-pin and 6-pin connector. However, when adapted, the maximum transfer rate will be 400 Mbps. This is an important cable if you have DV to Firewire Cable for Digital Camera, SLR, Machine Vision Camera etc.

cable only works for my intended purpose. I needed a way to connect my old Sony DV camcorder's 4-pin iLink "Firewire" port to a 9-pin cable to stream old home videos to my 2016 MacBook Pro. Connection: Bizlander DV Firewire 800 Cable 4-Pin to 9-Pin > 9-Pin Apple Firewire to TB2 Cable > Apple TB2 to TB3 Cable > USB-c port on my MacBook. This allows me to capture DV from the camera to the computer using Quicktime or other software. Not an elegant solution, but works great.

Pros
  • The 9-pin connector is a rectangle with square corners. It has 5 pins on one side and 4 pins on the other side.
Cons
  • Damaged

GOOD BUY for Computers and Accessories

I recently rediscovered my 2000 Sony Digital Handycam DCR-PC100 while trying to sift through some old family tapes. I then decided to include them in my Macbook Air iMovie app, but unfortunately I was missing the cable (4-pin to 9-pin Firewire) needed to connect to my Mac Thunderbolt adapter. I found and ordered this cable from Revain. I hooked it up to my camera and AirBook port (from Apple Firewire to Thunderbolt) and I was uploading files from my camcorder to iMovie in minutes. What a way to

Pros
  • Improved specification enables data transfer rates up to twice the original IEEE 1394 standard.
Cons
  • I'll add later

Sony Digital 8 - 2010 MacBook Pro

This cable is REQUIRED if you have a 2010 MacBook Pro with a 9-pin FireWire input and a Sony Digital 8 camcorder with a 4-pin ilink FireWire port. Saves so much time. It transfers the highest quality off tape and, BEST of all, splits and date-stamps various clips when using iMovie on a Mac. All you have to do is hit the import button in iMovie and it will do the rest for you. Others don't. I tried Evgato Video Capture and Transfer in VHS quality and transferred the whole tape as one big clip…

Pros
  • FireWire 800 Cable The 9-pin connectors are part of a new extension of IEEE 1394 technology called FireWire 800 (or IEEE 1394b).
Cons
  • unreliable

It works! [It]-[Apple DP]-[Apple USBC]-[MacBook]

I bought this in a series of purchases for a connector to transfer video from an old JVC iLink camera to my Mac . Answer: Yes, it works on modern Macs with two other very expensive Apple branded ports to switch from FireWire to USBC. In the end, the price got worse, but the videos received from the camera made everything better. Now I have a video of my kids when they were babies. now 20 years later. πŸ₯°πŸ˜. Preserved for all time.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
