Easy to install at Parts & Components

I have a cruiser frame that I installed it on and although the down tube and seat tube went into the bottom bracket the adapter remained unchanged. or frame. Others may not be so lucky, but it was a quick and easy install.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not bad

Great upgrade! on Parts & Components

This thing gave me the ability to fit a compact FSA crank to my 1960 Schewnn. I used a shim maker to help it get in place and then help hold it or there. The threaded end of the bolts may protrude and interfere with the bottom bracket shell and may need to be trimmed off.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Minor issues

Does its job well when converting solid cranks to 3-piece.

I bought this to convert a 60's 24" Murray to a modern sealed bottom bracket and square cranks. It works great! Note that many older American made frames have frame tubes that go into the bottom bracket shell You'll probably have to either drill them or grind them down to align all the screws.

Works as it should!

I installed this BB conversion kit on my late 80's Schwinn cruiser so I could later rebuild an engine that required a three piece crank type. The install went very smoothly from the second time on, as I flipped from left to right the first time. I didn't really care, although I could see it could get a bit more routine without agility. I've been using a standard Shimano bottom bracket cartridge for a few hundred miles with no problems. There was no metal on my bike to sharpen, but I think I got

It worked very well. Make sure you line up the holes before pushing them in. I had a weld at the bottom so I lined up the arrows with that. Push in one side (left and right are labeled there too!) and then push in the other side with the screws, tightening each a few turns so you push them in. My mount is 65mm. The bottom bracket needs to be 68mm so I used shims on the bottom bracket. Making Wheels 1mm Cassette/B-Gasket (Pack of 10). Also start with the plastic side of the bottom bracket first,

it looks really good and saves me a few grams of weight

I have found that restoring vintage cars is not as easy as expected. This part is well made and will probably fit most vintage bikes, but for the old Columbia bike I'm restoring I had to make some modifications to the part and frame. The Columbia's BB cup is a few millimeters smaller, so no matter how hard I pounded on the part, it wouldn't go in. I had to file and use a belt sander to reduce the circumference to an acceptable size. The Columbia shell also had a burr on the inside of about 10mm

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • There are nuances

Great device - no instructions.

This is a well made adapter. I'm using it to update a 1940's Western Flyer. Some additions to previous comments. Definitely a good fit - it takes a 2lb hammer with a block of wood to set the threaded side in. And then it's important to line up the screws on the unthreaded side before trying to tighten them. I had a large C-clamp that I used to insert an unthreaded piece with one of the loose threaded bolts so I wouldn't get out of alignment when sitting. The big problem I had with this old bike

Helped in an emergency! cycling

I recently used an old Schwinn frame on a cheap and battered build. It was clear from the start that this old American grip was going to be a problem. Luckily a friend introduced me to this product and now I'm a convert (that's all for terrible puns, I swear). Installation was difficult, but not impossible. I sanded down the inside of the tube to get a nice clean fit. They recommend using a press to install this part, but since I didn't have one, I used screws to clamp the part instead, which…
