Blaupunkt 1500W 4 Channel Full Range Amplifier Review

A few years ago I had a Marine Blaupunkt boat that I really liked. He powered the 2-12 with ease. Just bought 2 of the 4 channel 1500 watt amps. I bypassed one of these Blaupunkt amps to power 2-12" Memphis subwoofers. The other drives my 2 Alpine 6x9 crossovers and 2 Alpine 6 1/2 crossovers. The stereo in my truck sounds amazing. Very loud and clear sound. My only downside is the size of these amps, but driving a truck is space constrained anyway. Very happy with these amps!

This product only lasts a few months in service. The power indicator is on, but there is no output. It worked great for a while but eventually died. I had to add two noise filters, one for the front speakers and one for the rear speakers because they are so powerful that they amplify some of the noise coming from the car. Blaupunkt have been around since the 30's, they know a thing or two about audio. However, they have lost prestige due to their false promotion of power. It doesn't come close to 1500W or its RMS rating. More like 650W PEAK when connected to a dynamometer amp. They are great although I have a Boss amp that powers my subwoofer with the same power which overheats after about 1 hour of playback at high volume. I have 3 amps and it's the cheapest. So that's what has surprised me the most so far. I have connected up to 5 speakers. And this amp works for me. I have more expensive amps with more power and this one still works. The only downside is that it gets very hot. I live in Texas so most days start out hot. It's not overheated yet. This amplifier does not fit in my car. I mean everywhere. Under the seat, on the seat, in the trunk, nowhere. I had to tow it in a trailer. Bought this amp to power the four main speakers in my 1996 240sx. I bought a cheap Chinese head unit and needed something different to get the full potential of the speakers. So far this amp has worked great. It's probably a little overkill just for my speakers.
