The best software for Windows is required.

On a Windows computer, the software that came with it doesn't work properly - I haven't been able to get it to work yet and have given up. It works great as a replacement CD player. October 11, 2014 - OK, I just got the software that came with the device working on my Windows 7 computer. I followed the installation process recommended by "Ben" and it worked. decent iron; works with Linux; questionable USB-SATA bridge

Hardware works well but may not offer software to work with Blu-ray disc. (The disc with what appears to be the Windows version of Nero was included, but I can't and haven't tested it.) Noobs can be careful. Third party software should work fine with it. Works with several modern Linux distributions. The manual is chock full of understandable but amusingly broken English. An extra USB power cable is included but I haven't needed it yet (about 1 week of moderate use). All in all, decent hardware

Only worked the first time

Updated. May 4, 2015 So initially I gave this product 5 stars because it worked right out of the box. But after removing it and trying to use it again, it stopped working. On my Mac it is said to be using too much power. So he didn't even read and didn't turn on. I've tried, tried reformatting the processor, even bought separate adapters and power cords, it still didn't work. It really turned out to be garbage. It has been standing still since I bought it. I would pull it out to see if it would

Works great on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. (Update: Works great.)

The drive comes with two cables and basic instructions. From the sheet I could see that the drivers were loaded onto the player, so I just plugged the player into a USB 2.0 port on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. The drivers loaded in about 1-2 seconds and everything was ready to go. The installation CD is not included in the scope of delivery and is not required for the hardware. The device is detected and identified as a Sony/Optiarc BC-5500S instead of a Panasonic/Matsushita as described on the…

Lasts 30 minutes Best in Computers & Accessories

I bought this Blu-ray drive based on reviews from other Mac users. I was skeptical that this would work because I've had no luck with devices that use a second USB cable for power. At first I thought the hard drive was working, but after about half an hour it died. If you're looking to buy this CD, I strongly recommend that you buy it from a seller that offers free shipping and free returns. . Chances are you'll get it back. Using the USB port for extra power is a bad idea in my opinion. I know
