When it worked it worked a little more than adequately (albeit slowly)

I received this disc on Saturday and immediately plugged it into my media server and used it to copy Blu-ray discs to the hard drive . I watched five discs (one right after the other) before I had problems. When inserting the sixth disk, the drive indicated that there was no disk! I tried to eject the disc (using the eject function of the program I'm using), but the drive wouldn't open! When trying to press the eject button on the front of the drive, the drive still WAS NOT ejected, but it spun

  • Delivery was very fast

Great player with a few issues

Why does this player not have 5 stars Let's start with the pros This drive is adapted from a laptop drive. Many criticize the plastic case. The disk is very small. The plastic case prevents the optical drive from being destroyed by static electricity and makes it lightweight. The drive has a Blu-ray reader. This is not a Blu-ray burner. What would you expect for $35? I was really amazed that it can read DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-R, CD+R. It can read almost any DVD or CD. It can also burn almost any DVD…

  • Finally bought it

Checked and it works.

System tested (so far): Dell T3400 - Intel Core 2 Quad / 4GB RAM / Windows Vista / USB 2.0 (System over four years old) The product is made of plastic but doesn't feel fragile. Weighs about a pound (I think). Of course, like any electronic device, don't throw it around. I see how some people use their smartphones, tablets and laptops and it drives me crazy. Excellent packaging. Included is a mini-CD which I thought was software to at least play Blu-Ray movies, but superficially it just said…

Perfect solution for MacBook Pro with Lion

When I received this drive I ignored the instructions page that came with it and just popped it into my 2009 MBP. It was recognized immediately and in about half an hour my first Blu-ray extraction was complete. My main goal for this disc is to extract my Blu-ray movies so I can put them on my AppleTV 2. Works great! You will need third-party software, so be aware that this drive only comes with a disc, cables, and media. Personally, I've used a combination of DVDFab and MakeMKV along with…

Cheap / Poor / Possibly broken / Wrong region

Where to start? Ah yes, power. They tell you that you don't need an AC adapter because this drive gets all the power it needs from USB. However, what they don't tell you is that you need to use TWO powered USB ports for this. I would prefer a power supply. I inserted one of my DVDs to test the performance of iTunes DVD backup via Handbrake. It froze almost immediately. The debug screen told me it was a region issue, meaning the drive was region 1 and the player was region 2. The sparse…

Faster than expected - works great in Lion

I chose this to have Blu-ray discs on my Mac as part of my recent project "keep all my DVDs etc in iTunes" to secure. ". According to the system information, these are the specifications of the drive: PIONEER BD-ROM BDC-TD03: Firmware Version: 1.00 Connection: USB Burning Support: Yes (general drive support) Profile Path: No Cache: 4000 KB DVD Read: Yes CD - Burning: -R, -RW DVD Burning: -R, -R DL, -RAM, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW Burning strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD- Raw, DVD - DAOBased on from…
