I was worried it was an infrared remote control instead of bluetooth but it works fine. You have to point it at the TV, but you don't have to pair it. I bought it as a replacement but I like it just as much as the original.

If you're looking for a shiny original with a mic and all the other bells and whistles, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a perfectly acceptable replacement that does its job perfectly, go for this device. No setup required. I just put the battery in and everything works.

I've tried two stock Samsung remotes and I like these better because the buttons stick and you don't have to watch what you're pressing - you can do it by feel. The dimensions are nearly identical and the batteries don't fall out of place every time you put the remote down like Samsung's OEM remote did.

The OEM remote that came with my Samsung KS 8000 fell apart and the buttons stopped responding. Decided to give it a try. Build quality is good and the volume up and down buttons are actually better than the OEM remote. All I had to do was put the batteries in and boom, it worked. We'll see how it holds up over the next few months, but for now it's a great replacement!

The negative comments about removing the back cover are absolutely correct. So are the comments suggesting wearing rubber gloves. Watch out for latex gloves also works, as do the round rubber grommets used to remove lids from cans. The trick is to get enough "grip" between the front and back of the timing cover, as the front has a very thin edge.
