I bought this in very high hopes that we would get lots of use out of it but having just used it the glass insert broke. It broke when I tried to take it off for cleaning. The device works well but if you are looking for something that will last a long time I would look at a device without a glass.

This press has saved my life almost every morning since I bought it. My only problem is that after almost a year the copper plating is peeling off in some places. If you want to avoid this, remove the glass part and HAND WASH the copper bowl while the glass runs freely through the dishwasher. Otherwise an excellent product.

All Revain options considered. Thought I'd pay a few bucks more because the metal case around it would protect the glass. To my surprise, after some soap and water, there is enough lubrication on where the glass just slides off the object. the glass slipped and broke after washing and also thought the base should be rubberized or at least some harder plastic. no thin, brittle plastic

I've already lost count of how long I've had it. Eight months or something? The best French press I've ever had. The press really goes all the way down, the lid fits snugly, the bronze body doesn't scratch the glass like I thought that's cool. I didn't even have to switch screens, although I thought I had to. Bought in September 2018 and used daily to date February 2019. Thought the glass was tempered for heat so it could more easily withstand an accidental touch on the counter and it didn't. As you can see my new French Press has made my coffee cup very happy. This is a very elegant press - the lid and plunger slide very smoothly and it has some weight so it stays in place during use. The screens are very efficient and NOT cheap by design. I use it every day for a week and it consistently does its job of keeping out thick and fine particles.
