Poor design of parts and accessories for electric drill

Barrel is cylindrical instead of hexagonal. This causes the drill to rotate in the shaft. There are 2 set screws on the side, but none of them line up with the recess of the hex bit, so the hold depends on the compression force of the screw. Even if the set screws have blue Loctite on them, after a few minutes of use, they easily come loose due to vibration.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Little repairability

Did the job for twist drills

Outperformed my previous extension (different brand) by staying more accurately aligned with the drill (less wobble). I had to (carefully) use three of them to poke a hole in the wall at the far end of a meter of narrow cable run and they worked flawlessly and stayed perfectly aligned. Reasonable price for utilities. My only disappointment is that the set screws are metric, so I have to keep track of "their" allen key instead of using the ones I always have on hand.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Minor issues

I used it to drill wire holes through the rafters in the ceiling.

I put 3 of these together to drill a hole through the rafters in the ceiling for the wiring. Worked very well. It connects to the bit with two set screws tightened with a hex wrench. Also used it as a wrench extension with my car drill. The only problem I had was that I had lost the set screw. They are sold at any good hardware store. The connection end has a relatively small diameter. Some of the others I looked at were a bit wider. They have worked well for me and I expect to use them many…

  • This is great

You get what you pay for

It took a while but then what I was using started to slip. It grips and clamps on one side only, which allows it to rotate even when tightened. I bought this from Home Depot (about $10) and it's much better because it clamps automatically and is supported on all six sides at the same time. While I don't really like the extension above, I would rate the extension 5/5 in the link below. Spend a few bucks more to get a better quality tool and avoid the hassle.

  • 1 year trial

Bosch puts its name on everything

Bad design all round. The nozzle is attached by two small hex head screws that fail. Once the drill encounters resistance, it will stop and the extension will continue to rotate. Any bit with a quarter-inch hex shank not only breaks out because it's off-center and doesn't twist when accessed, but actually twists and turns because the bit is off-center. It's just bad design. I bought a 12 inch extension with a quarter inch collet to keep the cargo out of the port for the same price which really…

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Doesn't work for everything

An unused, lightweight, or discarded item.

I purchased this item to extend my drill bit so I can drill through a stump to fit a killer stump. I found that some bits worked better than others, so I had to change them several times over time. However, after the 3rd change, the top hex nut split and had to be drilled out to get the bit out. The extension itself also warped and bent during use. Now I know that drilling a tree stump for a 1 1/2" bit and that extension is hard work. But I only used it for 15 holes in one day before it warped.

Pros
  • Provides cleaner hole quality with reduced pull out
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

It is IMPOSSIBLE to lose the screws that hold the bits in place.

I need this length of extension to complete a phase of a project. I looked at two different types of bit extenders and bought this type because I had no experience with bit extenders. There are two set screws on this model that are free floating and are tightened and loosened with a hex wrench. When using this tool, I found that these screws are very easy to lose. Each screw is around 4.0mm long and can easily be dropped on the floor where they can hide fairly well. So this expansion consists…

Pros
  • 1 4 inch hex extension for Bosch paddles
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Not bad not so good for power tool parts and accessories

It's pretty good but you have to know what you're getting. It has a round hole where the drill goes. That's both good and bad. The good thing is that it is compatible with round drill bits. The bad thing is that you use 2 set screws to transfer the torque to the drill bit. I probably won't use this with round drill bits as they can only work with small sizes that fit the hole. Anything that small I break if I try to use it at 12 inches. And when I'm using such a small drill, I probably need…

Pros
  • It's a Bosch Daredevil DSBE1012 12 inch drill extension
Cons
  • Some bugs
