Works pretty well, with some caveats.

I am using DD-WRT firmware with this device. If all you need is plug-n-go, this works great. I've been using dd-wrt since it was first introduced when it only worked on a router. I had to make some rules for the kids to keep them from playing video games all day, which meant I had to update the firmware on my old router. I kinda bricked it up so I bought this one. As a wireless router, the functionality is pretty good and a bit faster than my old router. But I still can't run the rules on a…

  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Weak set

High speed, no dropouts - should have installed this months ago!

I am not an experienced user. I just wanted my Wi-Fi to work since I "upgraded" (yes that's right) to a new Windows 10 laptop, I couldn't stay connected. I was afraid to click a link, fill out a form, or do anything that might upset the cosmic balance of my Wi-Fi. Our house is old with solid wood walls etc and the location of the router is not optimal for where I spend my computer time. We also have a few WiFi routers in our area, but I don't know if they cause interference or not. I tried the…

Durability, scalability, functionality, even wifi range, 100% working

I've never had a router that good that 5 years later, now it works better with updated DD-WRTI, added features like e.g filtering web pages so certain computers cannot view them; and preventing one or two computers from accessing the Internet at certain times. QoS function, works wonders with this firmware updated to October 2018, ad blocking wonders, it's an Internet storage router in Venezuela, also called BAM, works when broadband over WAN is not available. It was used as a media server for…

  • Nothing here

Buffalo Hello performance?. Maybe: Buffalo Hi Power?. Not quite, if only.

Bought this router to replace the Linsys E2500 I had. At first I was looking for high performance as there are multiple Wi-Fi networks in the area and all channels seem to be busy all the time. Turning the router on with full power in the wireless network settings did not result in a stronger signal than a two-wire router with a built-in antenna. 2Wire only has a 2.4GHz band so I compared them. Buffalo was actually worse and had less coverage than 2-wire with a maximum power of 400mW. According

As others have said, the SoC is a little on the weak side.

As others have said, the SoC is a bit underpowered to do anything extraordinary. I've had this router for almost 5 years - my problem was overheating. It can get very hot and even fail outdoors when trying to use it for anything other than the main network (and even then saturated Ethernet + Wi-Fi can break it). Knowing what I did when I bought it, I would definitely look for a router with a more powerful chip to complement the 64MB of internal memory. It was nice to be able to use OpenWRT on…

Cons
  • is embarrassing

Complete junk

This router is a waste of money. The first block failed. Wired network connections on the router will randomly lose network connectivity and you will need to restart the router to get it working again. I returned the first unit under warranty and received a replacement. Exactly the same problem was. When I asked for a refund due to an apparent system issue with their router, they refused. They also refused to send me another replacement, reasoning that my network must have caused the router to…
