Large Compact Travel Binoculars

Bushnell 138005 8x25mm binoculars are ideal for travel. They are very compact and fold up relatively small, so I can keep them in the inside pocket of my travel bag at all times. I used them on a recent cruise and found great clarity and no fogging issues, but (fortunately) haven't had a chance to test the water resistance yet. They're easy to adjust and comfortable to hold for long periods of time (I like the textured rubber finish). Focusing is fast and reliable, and the 8x zoom is more than…

Pros
  • Magnification x Lens: 8x25mm
Cons
  • Expensive

Ultra compact and relatively cheap, but lenses could be better.

These are relatively inexpensive waterproof binoculars. They are lightweight and fold into a small suitcase. The strap fits her size and has good eye relief. They're good enough for a baseball game or a concert (unless you're in the nosebleed department). But they aren't very sharp and don't let in much light in the shade. There are no protective eyecups on either end, so they must be stored in their pouch when not in use. and great buy. But these Bushnells are fine if you want binoculars that…

Pros
  • BaK 4 prisms for bright, clear and sharp images
Cons
  • Negative present

It's small enough to fit easily in a backpack

I wanted a reasonably priced weatherproof travel binocular and it works well for all needs. The 8x zoom was adequate as we mostly use it on the go or on something moving, so the "handshake" when holding it doesn't spoil the image. It also offers a wider field of view than the x10. It's small enough to be easily thrown in a backpack. If you don't have big bags, it's not very convenient. Possibly cargo pockets. The body is pretty tight. I attached a strap to it and the case only protects the…

  • 100% waterproof, o-rings and nitrogen purged for reliable fog-free performance
Cons

Gains at 10x

I leave this review for those who are hesitating between this 8x magnification and the similar 10x Bushnell magnification. I ordered both without knowing what would be better and more practical as a gift, even though they cost the same. I've looked at the terrain/objects both fairly close to my location (maybe 50 yards) and far into the terrain (maybe 1/2 mile) and I've noticed very little difference when zooming in or out. But the 10x move was significant. I could rest my elbows on the back of

Pros
  • 15ft minimum focusing distance; 12mm eye relief
Cons
  • Not sure

Pin sharp, compact, great but difficult to adjust diopter

Bought these for a trip and am happy with the performance - until I compare it to my brother's legendary Ultra HD 10x42. Otherwise, I'm often surprised and amazed at how they've allowed me to see and perceive so many distant objects that I wouldn't normally notice with the naked eye. Pros: I love the compact and grippy design that makes it lightweight so I can just hang it around my neck and forget I'm even carrying it on long, tough 3-4 hour hikes. Meanwhile my brother leaves him behind…

Pros
  • Large central focus knob for easy adjustment; unscrew eyecups; Limited lifetime warranty
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Done - Binoculars

I noticed that there are no photos in these reviews, so I've attached a few of them here. As you can see they are nice and compact (a dollar bill for size comparison in the photos), very light and feel solid. They don't open easily, which I like. You don't want that thing folding and unfolding while you're trying to display them. Also included is a strap, pouch, lens cleaner and instructions. The band and case are not up to date or anything. but they do their job. As described, the eyecups…

Pros
  • Multi-coated optics for excellent light transmission
Cons
  • Almost everything included
