Good quality, better emblem could be used

Amazing quality key fob case, slightly different from OEM specs in terms of internal design, but 100% invisible after assembly. My only suggestion is to make the rubber text bold like on the factory key fobs, I could see the panic button rubbing very slightly. thick clear resin on it like the OEM emblem. This is a clear indication that this is not a factory key and looks a bit strange. (Also, the replacement emblem is inside the keychain itself. If you think you haven't received it, pleaseโ€ฆ

Not suitable for 2000 VW Beetle 2.0 GLS

This new remote control housing uses ONE CR 2032 button cell battery, while the original remote control in my 2000 Beetle uses TWO smaller CR 1620 button cells. CR 1620 is a smaller diameter and two of them were in the Tucked away in the battery compartment of my old key fob. CR 2032 is wider, when closing the key fob after transferring the chip to this new key fob, the 2032 cell gets in the way of the memory chip due to the larger diameter of the battery, and I could not close the new key fobโ€ฆ

Great DIY project. Don't pay the retailer for a new key case!

I can't believe I was able to change the key and key shell without much trouble. comes from a 55+ woman, if I can do it, so can you! I would like to thank "FasterAutoKey" on YouTube for a great video tutorial. The most difficult aspect of replacing the electrical components was removing the transformer chip. As mentioned, I used a hair dryer and heated the back of the case behind the chip and it popped out with a tiny screwdriver. I now have a brand new VW key case. FYI, years ago when the redโ€ฆ

Good for two weeks.

Nice replacement case, about $8 total Not sure you could do better. I was keen to keep as many of the new components as possible, so I swapped the actual key and transponder chip into a new case, which ended up being a bit of work. Had to get the old key to the rocks and sandpaper to fit the new case as it was about .030" long and .010" thick to fit. The space for the transponder chip is also a bit loose, so be sure to use hot glue. If everything is done carefully, the result will be aโ€ฆ

There are better key cases. Avoid

There are three main problems with this key wrapper. 1 The removed part does not fit the key part very well. This can cause the key part to be easily separated from the remote control. 2 transponder chip not included. A small hole for the transponder chip is handy so you don't have to fiddle with a screw or spring mechanism. But combined with problem 1 it was a terrible choice. say the end of the key has come loose, the transponder chip will disappear. You can put your key back in the remoteโ€ฆ
