feels good in the hand

Very sturdy construction, feels good in the hand and will last for many years. The only reason I only give it 4 stars is that the thickness adjustment isn't as easy as I'd like and it takes some trial and error to get the setting you want. (You can't just look at it and get a predictable thickness. Maybe you're trying to make a slice a little thinner and end up with a little thicker slice.)

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Operating speed

Very happy with the product

This is a quality product; comes with a DVD that walks you through all the features (simple, easy steps). I'm not a "chef" but wanted to make oven baked potato chips and it turns out I'll be using these for a lot more. The manufacturer in France is very proud of its products; I can understand why. Highly recommended. Of course, you can pay for a professional level, but it will do.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • No performance

Ideal for cutting vegetables

I have never used a mandolin. I thought it would be useful for me to cut and chop vegetables for frying. The tool is well made and the blades are very sharp, except I haven't had any luck with blades other than the straight plane. Very good for straight cuts - fast and precise. It's a lot easier than trying to make tiny slices with a knife. It's also very secure. The trigger mechanism keeps your fingers off the blades. I've made some wonderful dishes using thinly sliced potatoes and onionsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good price
