Great sewing tool

Great awl for leather, canvas or anything that needs sewing where a sewing machine cannot be used. It is helpful to buy an extra pack of needles in case you put too much force on the needle and one breaks.

Pros
  • Sewing
Cons
  • Thin

Not the best design

Bought to try after the needles broke on my old one. Not a fan of this design. Another design has a large knurled collar to keep the needle taut. A small collar on it makes it difficult to pull out the needle. I constantly have to use pliers to pull the needle out of thick materials when it falls out of the awl.

Pros
  • Sewing tools
Cons
  • Requires a socket

This is a great tool for home use

This is a great tool for leather repair. I got my first one exactly like this about 55 years ago when I was a rodeo cowboy to fix rodeo gear like grips, rigging and saddles. I still have it but this one is for my son to use with holsters, belts and other leather gear. I was happy to see that this tool hasn't changed in the last 55 years.

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • Damaged

Sewing on time

The instructions were clear and I was able to velcro the already existing velcro strips onto a pair of favorite shoes. It was a lot easier to use than I thought.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
