Appearances are deceptive. Very poor build quality.

This design meets my needs. Take a mono source on the jack and spread it left and right evenly. It looks like it will be durable. However, the jack is loose and has bad connections from the first time I plugged it in. Every channel has noise and gaps. I have to assume that the female end was built outside of the usual 1/8" TRS specs. I could probably tape it to secure it, but that's totally unacceptable, especially when used in a mobile environment.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Expensive

Loud noise when rocking, so useless

As mentioned earlier, the female end is a little loose. If you wiggle the cable, it will make a loud popping noise (if you're using it to record sound from a monaural microphone). The sound actually cuts out, it's so loud and my ears hurt when I'm wearing headphones. It's just not worth the risk. I was hoping this would save me the trouble of cloning a mono source, but it could have completely ruined your sound! My microphone is fine on its own and is not causing this problem. I also tested it…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • A little wrinkled

maybe it did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Maybe it did exactly what it was supposed to do, but it didn't work for me. I work in a call center and need my CSAs to overhear their phone calls. We recently had an update that affected speaker output. Now the customer's "Stereo" mode calls are played in one speaker (or earbuds in my case) and the DPS in the other. This makes it difficult for my CSAs to hear calls when the phones are slow because they can't wear an earbud in one ear and a headset in the other. I was hoping this would make…

Cable just falls out

On a healthier day I would give it two stars as I could technically just glue things in place but no. It fits nicely into the headphone jack and does a great job of converting stereo to mono, but the headphone jack doesn't fit. It would have been five stars if it actually locked instead of me having to hold onto it. He comes back; If the next one really works I'll change it to three stars, or if I'm feeling charitable maybe four. *edit* No. This one has the same problem. However, I will not…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Works great but it's gold not silver

This adapter fits me perfectly. You connect the adapter to a stereo sound source, e.g. B. the audio output of a stereo radio or computer. Then take a mono device, e.g. B. a mono earphone or a single speaker and connect it to the adapter. The mono device then plays the left and right channels of the source in mono. It electrically shorts the "tip" and "ring" contacts visible on the adapter (left and right channels, respectively), creates a mono mix and routes it to the tip in the adapter. Thus…
