I'm writing this in part to review the cable myself (spoiler alert: it works fine) and also to inform other buyers who may not understand exactly what they need. First, the cable itself is great. It is well built and more than adequate for its purpose. I've tested it with my MS Surface Pro 4 (no Surface Pro Dock - more on that below) as well as several different mini DisplayPort enabled laptops and monitors and/or TVs with HDMI. All PCs ran Windows 7 or Windows 10 and all worked more than…

No longer working well for DVI-HDMI adapter

This cable started to fail this week while I was giving a presentation. At the end of the day I brought everything home, ran a series of tests and was quickly convinced it was the cable (another identical cable from the same manufacturer - the 15ft version - reproduced the problem after about 30 tests) . All tests with a 6 foot cable reproduced the problem. Now that we know that this cable is the problem, here are the symptoms: The projector's signal was dropping out every few seconds on the…

Supports 4k2k60Hz - DVI-HDMI adapter

PROS:* 3850x2160@60Hz 4k UHD 60Hz* Better picture quality than VTIN and Tera Grand adapters CONS:*Wish it was 30cm longer/Phantom* Small ghost text around * No sound I have a stack of adapters from so many companies. This is the only one driving my 4k screen at 60hz. I bought it before the 1080p vs 4k versions came out, back in 2013. This is mDP 1.2 input and HDMI 2.0 output. I haven't tested the newer versions but I might try one as I need a 3ft+ cable. All adapters create a small halo around…

Just what my MacBook Air needs

I recently started working from home and was missing my two screens at the office. So I bought another monitor but was concerned none of the ports looked like my MacBook. I did some research and found out that the Thunderbolt port can be used for an HDMI connection. I wanted to buy both an HDMI cable and a converter, but then I found this handy universal cable. The display looks great on my Viewsonic monitor. All you have to do is go into your MacBook's System Preferences and click Display to…

Worked fine for 3 months - Replaced Cable Matters.

EDIT: After writing this review, I contacted Cable Matters through Revain to report a product malfunction and request a replacement. They were quick to apologize and happily sent a free replacement. They also sent a return label so I could send them the defective cable for inspection (presumably to determine if it was a design flaw that needed fixing). I bought it about 4 months ago to connect my Lenovo ThinkPad T430s to an HDMI monitor with stereo speakers attached. At first everything worked…
