I don't have an audio lab at home, but after 20+ years in professional video, my ears can tell if the audio is good or bad. The sound transmitted through this cable is noiseless and highly accurate; I just can't measure it. For the 85% of us who don't need studio sound, this cable will do. I had no trouble latching the termination on the I/O jack. Just remember to remove the tiny clear plastic protective caps and you should be good to go.

This is not a well designed optical cable because of the connectors. The connectors here do not "snap" in place, as should be the case with high-quality optical connectors. And since the plugs are metal, they are very heavy, which creates an even greater problem. Because of the weight, they want to fall out of the connectors when plugged in.
