Happy to have room to adjust

I'm building a new bike from scratch and on a budget and it was the ticket to BB cable management. I took it out of the box and it fit right the first time. I was happy to have room to set up and right sized gear right out of the box.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • unreliable

Good replacement

The tricky part with these items is finding one that fits your bike exactly. It wasn't perfect, but it's made of soft plastic that can be shaped by heating it. Using a hair dryer or heat gun, heat it up a bit and shape it into the shape you want. A little patience and you'll be closer to our perfect fit.

Pros
  • Convenient item
Cons
  • Volume

Need cable routing under the bottom bracket?

The routing worked great for routing my derailleur cables under the bottom bracket. Installation was easy and only took a few minutes. I would recommend putting some Loctite Blue on the bolt to keep it from loosening over time. Well worth the money if you need such a cable management solution.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Clarity

Not sold in a pack of four but works great

Works great but is not sold in a pack of four even though the description says it does. I put it on a bike that didn't have a screw thread before and it still worked. If the bend in your frame or rail is too big or too small, you can easily melt and reshape the plastic with a heat gun or high-powered hair dryer.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Older model

Replacement on my Trek 720

I used to restore my Trek 720. The old one was getting brittle and I was afraid it might break. It's very similar in design and size to the device that came with the Trek 720 and seems to work well. Since it has a slot for the fasteners and not a single hole, you'll need to figure out where to place it on the axle hub so it's properly positioned for the shifter cables by noting where the old unit had the cables.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Almost OK

Perfect for my old mountain bike.

The original bike had a frame with no bolt but was held in place by a plastic rod through the hole in the bottom bracket. This fitted perfectly and the screw went into the existing hole as if it were threaded but it is not threaded. I have an old (1986-1996?) mountain bike, black model Diamond Back "Ascent". 21 speed, 26" impellers. This guide fits the cables a little better. Perhaps I should tell you that instead of removing the cables, I loosened them at the anchor bolts. Then, using a small…
