Ready to go! on Computers and accessories

A good set for anyone who wants to start using Rhasberry Pi. This kit takes the guesswork out of putting a kit together. I was able to boot into the operating system on the card that came with it, connect to my monitor and start gaming. My plans for this are to hook up a large hard drive and turn it into a Plex media server.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Reliability

Difficult access to GPIO

The case must have a low profile ribbon cable to fit under the case as the mounting channels are too wide. Even with the dedicated cable, it sits awkwardly on a table as the ribbon cable protrudes from the bottom of the case. The case does a really good job of controlling system temperatures, but you'll probably only want to use this case for non-GPIO builds like a media center or emulator case.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Quality

Impressive specifications

I really liked the aluminum case. The CPU stayed cool, but the aluminum got a little warm as it acts as a heatsink. One thing I would like to have in a case is the additional touch of two other components that heatsinks usually have. A place for a fan would also be nice. I know it acts like a heatsink and shouldn't be needed, but it would be nice to have one. However, I installed Ubuntu outside of the case. YouTube looks great, no tearing and everything works great. Definitely recommend.

Great to start with

Not much has been said as many of the items included are fairly common and/or necessary to use the Pi. However, I will comment on the aluminum body. I ran my Pi 4 at full CPU power for a long time, causing the temperature to rise dramatically. The case may actually be too hot to touch. I'd say that's a good thing as it means it absorbs heat and does its job as a passive cooler. You can cool the Pi down even more, although I'll point a simple USB fan at it. However, my biggest dislike for this…

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Blank

Good starter kit but case has its issues

I want to start by saying Canakits are great for beginners and have everything you need to get started with the Raspberry Pi world. Needless to say, this set has a few downsides. My main gripe with this case is accessing the SD card. The bottom of the case gets in the way and makes it difficult to remove the SD card. The case heats up to the point where I feel uncomfortable if I keep it on for too long. Because it's so new, there's no support on the Pi's website for installing an aluminum case.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure
