Failed after only 1 day and not eligible for a refund. Buyer warning!

Throw my name in the trash for faulty power supplies. Bought this along with the RBP 3B and just a day later the PSU failed. Plugging the Pi into my Samsung phone charger boots fine, but this power bank doesn't light up the red LED or the heater. The 1 star reviews mention how often they fail. Also, Revain buyers should be aware: this item CANNOT BE RETURNED. So I'm stuck with a useless paperweight.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • No performance

Works great but isn't 5 feet long

While this cable does the job of powering the Pi 3, the 5 foot claim simply isn't true. The cable itself is only 4ft 7" long while the entire cable + PSU is 4ft 10" long. Keep this in mind if you intend to use it within a certain distance from an outlet. That being said, this power supply seems to be the ONLY one that doesn't give the dreaded low voltage warning for the Raspberry Pi 3 B+. . I tried 2 other types and both others gave a warning but this one didn't.

No problem - within the first 6 months

After several years of continuous use the original power supply for my pihol gave under voltage failure so I thought it would be better to replace it before the disaster went bad. The Raspberry Pi 3 draws 2.5A, more than usual. Attach, no problem. ---------------- UPDATE------------- So here I am 6 months later getting the low voltage warning again. I don't use any accessories (camera, displays, hard drive) but this PSU powers the RPi which works with pihole, egress and piVPN 24/7. I think I'll

IV Curve Internal Components

The attached image shows the measured IV curves for this power supply compared to a 2.0A power supply (Kootek). I generated them using an RPi-based IV curve tracer I made for solar panels (search "IV Swinger" on YouTube and/or GitHub if you want to learn more about it). It's not designed for such low voltages, but it worked quite well. The IV curves show current (I) and voltage (V) for various resistances (R). This tells the story of how the source powers various loads (power = I*V). You can…

Definitely NOT low noise or filtered

I bought this power supply because it needed to be filtered and "low noise" because I needed it for an audio application (Echo Dot connected to high-quality external speakers). It's definitely NOT low-noise: you can hear faint 60Hz overtones coming through the speakers (which, frankly, also indicates the Echo Dot's under-filtering). I spent a lot of time making sure the 60Hz hum wasn't coming from the 3.5mm cable itself. (The hum is greatly reduced but not eliminated when I use the USB power…

It's a good PSU, but the warnings are questionable as hell

This thing doesn't work and delivers enough current to run my PiHole at 2B+. The problem is that there is a warning on the box that if your RPi has a lightning bolt icon, it's a problem with your Pi, not the power supply. That is not true. The lightning bolt icon means the Pi isn't getting enough power, period. That a manufacturer feels the need to hide potentially faulty products behind a false warning and tell you that it's not the power supply but an incompatible operating system is dubious…

Excellent power supply for internal devices

I recently bought one. This is the only one that powers the Raspberry Pi without the lightning bolt icon. On another raspberry pi, the previous power supply (different brand) didn't seem to get the lightning bolt icon. He was headless, so I might not have realized that more power was needed at certain times. It was also a recent Raspbian update, not sure if it was affected. I recently purchased another of these AC adapters and Revain did not show me this model. He went on to show Raspberry 4…

Yellow Lightning Bolt with Raspberry Pi 3b+

I got a couple of these while baking retro family cakes for Christmas. I have experienced low voltage warnings on all. Unfortunately this item cannot be returned through Amazon so I will stick with them. I think I can use it to charge an Android phone or an Xbox controller. However, they are certainly not suitable for Raspberry Pi 3b+. I don't understand how they are rated 4.5 stars out of 5. I have used them to power a RetroFlag NESPi case which I believe uses high quality parts. The Canakit…
