Inexpensive processing quality, excellent image quality.

Cheap assembly, excellent picture quality. Very sharp, very few chromatic aberrations or artifacts. The manual focus ring is loose but works perfectly. Great lens for your money.

Pros
  • High-quality assembly

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 Lens for Canon DSLR

I bought this lens because of its poor light performance and was not disappointed. I used it for indoor shots without a flash and in good light froze the action like a hummingbird. Very "fast" lens. I ended up selling it because it's a bit more powerful and a bit faster than its Canon 50mm 1.4 cousin. I honestly don't see much of a difference. That's a good bang for the dollar lens.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • boring packaging

Worth the money

I bought this lens for both the SL2 crop sensor and the full frame 6D and it works very well in both cases. Sharpness seems very good with either camera, and there's very little linear distortion or chromatic aberration. Autofocus is fast and accurate - note that it's noisy, but I don't record videos so I don't care. very easy customization.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Periodicity

Decent quality and aperture but noisy

So far I've been happy with this lens when using it on a Canon 30D body. Decent quality glass with no noticeable vignetting. It's not particularly wide-angle, thanks in part to the 1.3 zoom factor at 30D. So it's not good for looking at an entire room at a party, for example, but it's good for landscapes and the like. The only thing I complain about is the focus noise. , which is important and can be distracting if you're shooting a wedding or conference where noise is an issue.

  • Impressive

My son is a pro.

My son has recently started his career as a professional photographer and luckily I ordered this lens for him. He photographs many weddings and realized he needed a 28mm f/2.8 lens for some group shots and office shots. As soon as he received the lens he started using it and the results were amazing. ! This is truly a quality lens built to Canon's exacting standards. (I'll get one of those days too!) My son has 3 or 4 lenses which he uses well at his weddings and this 28mm f/2.8 is one of his…

Not USM but reliable

I'm a fan of low aperture lenses and this was a great addition to my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8. It's a relatively small lens and weighs next to nothing compared to some standard zooms. A sharp turn once all the way down. It also has a metal mount, a reasonable filter size, and barely extends (maybe half an inch) when focusing. I used mine but bought it in mint condition, which just goes to show that Canon really cares about their products lasting. This is a pretty good lens on a budget. However, I…

Really good choice for a budget 28mm lens

I like my Canon EFS 60mm f2.8 USM better but this 28mm f2.8 lens compares easily to it (just the focus is louder ). Color, contrast and sharpness are excellent on both lenses. I prefer a 60mm lens only because I'm more comfortable shooting up close without getting too close and I think people are more relaxed when there's space between them and the camera. But if I'm shooting indoors or outdoors in a crowded area, this little lens pays dividends. I don't want to be without him. I also love my…
