Great handle - photo & photo

Finally! I'm the kind of person who needs a grip just because it feels anchored in my hand. All my DSLRs have grips and this makes them feel more familiar and solid in my hand.

Pros
  • Practical item
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Too expensive good for digital cameras Accessories

So yes, doubling the battery life is good, but is it worth more than $250 just because you don't change the battery? I bought it thinking it was worth it, but now that I've received it I could return it. The ONLY thing this is useful for is that you can put 2 batteries in instead of 1. I think this is probably the most expensive thing Canon sells.

Pros
  • understandable for old ones too
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Long battery life!: Camera and photo

I bought this battery grip for my EOS R and to my surprise the battery grip came with a socket to plug in the batteries with a USB-C connection. I never have to take the batteries out of the charging handle, which is a great feature, not to mention it helps extend battery life. With this device, the EOS R is just the right size, not too big and not too small.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

An almost essential accessory for EOS R

I have been a professional fashion photographer for almost 40 years. I was a bit reluctant to accept a mirrorless camera as part of my kit. (One reason is Canon's new standout lenses and the fast autofocus on ALL lenses.) The EOS R is fortunately slightly larger than its competitors. The battery grip, while adding some weight, gives my hand a secure grip on the camera and also adds an almost essential vertical shutter release. The grip comes with its own charger (USB-C) which, while I don'tโ€ฆ

Pros

Once attached, you'll never take it off

Has a charger that you just have to plug in. Very practical, charges both batteries at the same time. I have big hands and this allows my pinky to hold them. I'm not very good at vertical photography. But when I do it, this grip is much more stable. I wasn't too enthusiastic about it at first, maybe the buyers repented. The second time I put it back it wouldn't turn off. Most of the reviews on the forums agree. First mixed, then I didn't shoot without it. It also saves you the hassle ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Must be for some people.

I always buy a battery grip for my SLR cameras and the R is no exception. The price has come down significantly since it was originally around $450, which is crazy, even with a USB-C charger. Anyway, the price is right now and the grip is *a bit* large, but I'm fine with that. Everything is very solid. They have improved the way it attaches to the camera compared to the 6D grip I used, but no longer include (or however offer) an AA battery compartment. Either way, if you're not comfortableโ€ฆ

Completely transforms your EOS R camera

I've been a semi-professional photographer for many years and my cameras have always had battery grips or motorized winders. I appreciate the increased usability and functionality of these devices. I have big hands and have never liked a smaller camera. I like the heavier weight and the extra stability. I also like the ability to shoot vertically and keep a good grip, and all the controls are in the same familiar places. The camera actually "feels" professional, adding to the ease of use of the

Overall great grip but missing a very important feature (AA)

This is my second SLR battery grip. The previous one was made by a third party for the T4i. When I bought this grip there were no 3rd party options for the EOS-R. I have to say that in the years I have used a third party grip on my T4i I have never had an issue that would have made me buy a Canon. That being said, I wasn't particularly upset at having to pay a much higher price for a Canon-branded grip. However, what really annoyed me was that I lost a HUGE feature with this crank that I had on
