Description of 📷 Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens: A Versatile and Sharp Choice for Professional Photography
- Quality made. There are no backlashes. The USM motor is, as expected, fast and quiet. Does not dust. Lightweight and compact.
- Chromatic aberrations are observed. There is no hood in the kit and it is extremely difficult to find it.
- In general, the lens is a "must have" in the line of optics, even though it is not L. And here's why: 1) Blur! It's bokeh :) Very smooth, I would even say gentle, plastic, with a soft transition to the sharpness zone; 2) it is very pronounced on the most open bokeh, some don’t even believe that it was shot with a wide-angle :)) Very voluminous (although at aperture 2 and 2.8 it is less sharp, but at 4 and 5.6 for most scenes the sharpness is good, while the plasticity of the pattern is preserved). When shooting dynamic reports, the effect is generally amazing. The main thing is to get into the zone of depth of field)) Here are acomuple of examples thatcomnfirm these advantages: . Jpg 3) Excellentcomntrast. 4) The minimum focusing distance allows you to shoot from a very close distance (for such a focal length it's almost macro :)) 5) Good design, high-quality assembly, usm motor, internal focusing. In general, it justifies its price even by 120% :) The artistic potential is very high.
- 1) Resolution - I would like more sharpness, however, as always :) Although for most scenes the sharpness is quite sufficient (i. E. normal, not too low - even the best of non-L lenses is possible, just not "ringing"). . "soap" - still not about this lens :) On the other hand, it draws all sorts of chrome-plated little things and glare very beautifully - a certain softness is just needed here (by the way, yes - it’s also very cool to shoot concerts with them! ). For the same reason, it’s also good for shooting people (especially if you still correctly use sharpening in a RAW converter - the lens has a good potential for sharpening, especially on a 21 MP matrix in 5D mark2 - primarily because of the good clarity of 28 / 1.8 ). 2) The front lens, despite its relatively small diameter, noticeably collects dust (apparently, electrostatically), fingerprints and easily gets smudged by everyone, especially with frequent lens changes, even with quite careful handling - sometimes you wonder how it got there at all -something to arise. As far as this "flaw" - decide for yourself. I personally always wear a rag with me for wiping :) 3) Vignetting and HA - the disadvantage of 28 / 1.8 is very slight. Vignetting occurs at an open aperture, but it is not some kind of prohibitive, standard for wide-angles, it is easily corrected in the converter or by the camera when turned on, respectively. options. I did not notice any critical chromatic aberrations (especially compared to some L-series lenses)) - there are very few on open apertures - it is also easily eliminated in the RAW converter. 4) The diaphragm is not 9-bladed, it draws nuts, although not very pronounced. On the other hand, the number of aperture blades is one of the factors that shape the nature of bokeh: one can only wonder why it is not 9-blade - marketing or "as intended"; ) 5) No lens hood included.
- Aperture
- The secondary market price is excessive and wholly unreasonable because it is soapy.
