Scanners and accessories Love mine

Many years ago I had a similar product at work. I needed one for the house, I chose this one for its characteristics. I use mine every day and it produces good scans - I mainly use it for paper as I also have a flatbed scanner. Anyway, easy to set up, the included software is useful. I have a folder on my desktop that I created just for the output of this scanner. Insert the paper, it goes straight into this folder. You can use the Dropbox or Box folder if you prefer. I've run through a few…

Pros
  • Wide compatibility: Windows and Mac support (MAC OS 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15 with latest Canon driver and Canon CaptureOnTouch software); The TWAIN driver is also included
Cons
  • Appearance

Great function but big design flaw: dark areas look striped

I really like this product, software and design was much better than the corresponding Fujitsu s1300 I own. The killer was that when scanning photos, all the dark areas of the photo showed numerous white stripes in the scanning direction. The scanner glass is not dirty, the photo is not dirty, and this is not a compression artifact (it happens with minimal JPEG, BMP, TIFF, .) compression. It's so obvious that it's hard to imagine how a product with such an obvious design quality issue even…

Pros
  • Handy and portable: can be used anywhere: home office, classroom, remote office, etc.
Cons
  • factor set

Poor image quality

I bought this little scanner hoping to digitize my home office and photos . I found the initial setup quite challenging. There are no instructions on how to actually operate the thing in the box, and a lot of googling doesn't help either. Besides, who still mails anything with a CD? Anyway, once I figured out that all you need is a cable connecting the scanner body to the laptop (don't use an AC adapter), it was fun finding the firmware on the scanner. I'm assuming my laptop has a setting that…

Pros
  • Handles many types of documents: receipts, photos, business cards, plastic or embossed cards, reports, long documents, etc.
Cons
  • Poor performance

Excellent scanner, reliable for 6 months with heavy use.

I have changed my rating to 1 star after 1 year of use. The main reason is Canon support. First, none of our 3 scanners are recognized by any Mac TWAIN software, including the Mac's built-in scanning software. This is a known issue, but Canon doesn't address it as long as the CaptureOnTouch software is working properly. So if you want to use this with another application that has native TWAIN support, you won't see those scanners. Second, Mac OS High Sierra (10.13) DOES NOT WORK with these…

Pros
  • Bundled software: Powerful yet easy-to-use scanning software plus business card organizer and document manager
Cons
  • Somewhat maintenance-friendly
