Also, the AF speed slowdown is a big disadvantage. I'll keep it, but the scenarios where I really want to use it will be rare. I am using it on a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens and due to image quality issues it looks like a basic 70-300mm telephoto lens.

Change this to your lens to double the distance, great product.

Excellent. Purchased for use with Canon 200-400mm with Fotodiox Canon Lens Adapter for Samsung NX1 Mount. Outstanding compatibility, the sharpness and color reproduction you've come to expect from Canon lenses. The only issue I had was the inability of the supplier to package the product properly and the extension came out of the box and bounced around the box but with that said the extension works great and considering how it arrived is, it should be pretty solid. although I have no plans toโ€ฆ

Come closer!

This turns my 400mm lens into an 800mm lens. You lose a lot of aperture though - I use f/11 a lot, but it works well in bright light and it's difficult to see birds while cataloging. Unless you're willing to shell out $10,000 for a pro 800mm lens, this is a good alternative. I photographed a hummingbird perched on a branch in the shade across the creek. I have a newer mirrorless camera that can run at fairly high ISOs without much noise. The attached image was f/11, 1/160s and ISO 3200. If youโ€ฆ

Great alternative to specially designed super telephoto lenses

Great addition to my 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens. Ideal for sports and outdoor photography without spending a fortune on dedicated super telephoto lenses. Provides excellent image quality with minimal focus speed slowdown. Even effectively used for astrophotography (on camera). I was able to attach it to the Celestron SCT by covering the electrical contacts with masking tape and using it on the camera in manual mode, but couldn't focus effectively on our first try - we'll try again when we have more

Turned my 70-200 into a tolerable part-time wildlife lens

Extender works great. I use it with an IS II 2.8 70-200mm lens and even at 400mm/5.6 wide open I get very clean and sharp images. If you're using it with a modern Canon body, you should still get autofocus at maximum focal length. Using this combo on my 7d instead of my 5dMIV gives me 640mm. Some YouTube reviewers say they don't produce sharp images. Nonsense! The bottom line is that you shouldn't see any noticeable degradation in image quality when used with a quality lens. However, I will say

A good device to bring distant shots closer

I added a Canon EF 2.0X telephoto lens to my photography gear as it is cheaper than a long lens like 400-800mm to buy. Lens. I have used this extender with a Canon IS 70-200mm lens and at 200mm the possibilities are the same as at 400mm, it was amazing. With this device, I was able to capture hard-to-reach moments without invading anyone's privacy. He worked well; However, this extension only works with the "white" line of lenses, which is a bummer. I was hoping it would work with my fixed 85mm

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly

f/5.6 lens AF in Live View

Every professional reviewer is quick to point out that this prevents AF with slow lenses, but today I found that with this addition, both the Canon 5D4 and the Canon 7D2 perfectly auto-focus Canon 100-400 L f/5.6 lens in Live View. On the 5D4, this registers as a minimum aperture of f/11; On the 7D2 he shoots at f/9. I have no idea why that is. However, both cameras were able to autofocus the lens in Live View without too much trouble. Yes, autofocus is slow compared to normal use, but that'sโ€ฆ

Good product - Better than buying a new lens

I haven't had the full use of this extension, but I like it so far. I use the extender on a Canon 70-200 f2.8 ISM lens with no autofocus issues. I used f8 as most reviews said that was the "sweet" point. I do a lot of school sports photography. If I make more I will update this review. I have attached some photos. I think the labels speak for themselves, but basically I took the same shot at 70 and 200 and then added an extender for the 140 and 400 shots. So it seemed like the photos weren'tโ€ฆ

Awarded 70-200 f/2.8 even better on IS II

I paired it with my 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II because spring for 300mm or 400mm lens. I'm very happy with it and have to say that with a quality lens like the 70-200/2.8 IS II there is almost no loss of functionality. Yes, you're missing two stops, but getting 400mm f/5.6 isn't bad at all, and the IS II's 4-stop Image Stabilization certainly helps a lot. And nowadays, when it's possible to shoot at high ISOs without much noise (like the 5D3), getting sharp daytime shots at 1/500s or faster is noโ€ฆ
