I would give one star but it looks very cool. However, it does not provide accurate temperature readings. I would consider this a necessary condition for a thermometer. This could have killed my entire reef if I didn't have another thermometer to test with.

Inaccurate for water temperature. It shows room temperature, not water. The difference to the actual water temperature is 2 degrees. Difficult to read at night. The tape sticks to the outside of the glass and interferes with the magnetic glass scraper/scrubber. I do not recommend this item for aquariums.

Now I have it. 15 of them, and the oldest released a few years ago works just as well as the newest released last month. They are easy to read, right where it matters, and aesthetically pleasing. I have a few reds, most blacks, and they all work great. Honestly, you can't go wrong with it.

I bought 2 digital thermometers for each end of my 125 gallon inner tank, plus a "classic" black thermometer with a health check sticker. These digital thermometers are incredibly accurate and the 24 hour recording allows me to monitor my heating throughout the night. These heaters are very easy to install. They come with batteries and are attached to the side of the tank with strong tape. I haven't tried removing the thermometers but I don't think it would be easy as they are very secure.

A healthy aquarium cannot rely on just one thermometer. You never read the same thing. I use four of these for my 40 gallon. Tank. The first (small digital electronics) is down in 10 gallons. The biofilter (where the water heater lives) is second (small digital electronics) from the back left near the bottom. The third is an old analog glass type attached to the top right.
