Great idea easy to use but not great with copper nickel line

I used this tool to try and make some copper nickel hard lines to line a fancy hard section on a Ford to replace Edge. They were hand formed using a pair of bender pliers purchased at the same time. This tool seems well made and very easy to use. The flashes he makes may be usable, but even after practicing all 4 ended up with a bulge/crease on the back of each flash. The inner cone appears to be well formed but not as deep/wide as the factory flare, despite the port going all the way down. I…

Fantastic brake flare tool

I'm not a mechanic but I'm a keen handyman and consider myself a bit handy. I decided to replace part of my rusty brake line for the first time in my life and decided to spend a bit of money on this tool instead of renting a free torch tool at my local auto parts store. I'm happy to report that this toolbox was EXTREMELY easy to use and saved me a ton of headaches on complex tasks. I don't have a vise, so I decided to double the line already attached to my machine and widen the two ends of the…

Very clean. (It's great)

The thing is great! I struggled for 3-4 hours over the weekend to get some flashes to complete the project. Rented a conventional flaring tool from an auto parts store only to find that it had worn out and was no longer holding up. Sent back and received the exact same model but brand new. The holder was turned askew and couldn't make a straight flare! So I went to another store and bought a different brand tool that was brand new but just didn't work properly. So I gave up and ordered these…

Not for cupronickel line

This is a nice little crimping tool but I wouldn't recommend it for cupronickel lines as they are too soft for that. It took me 15-20 torches to leak-free the line. My ends were PERFECT. cut with a pipe blade, deburr and deburr the end. The flare fitting (double flare) looked fine, but I can see that the end of the tube twisted when the die was screwed on. Not the whole tube, just the tip, which was flared. The tubing was bent in a circular motion just below the torch (and yes, I used the…

nothing to think about Buy a tool if you need to double the 3/16 line torch.

This item is amazing. I don't understand how someone who can follow simple instructions can't deploy a brake line. Trust me, if you can't get this tool to work then you shouldn't be working on something as important as brakes. It is so easy. Cut and deburr the sleeves on your fitting, tab side down. Then take a tool, screw in the prescribed stop screw at the end and push the tube into place. Then tighten the 2 10m bolts to attach it to the line. Then take out the alignment tool, then take the…
