Disappointed: Men's

I was looking forward to helping out with horseback riding in cold weather. I wore them in 35 degree weather and was disappointed that they didn't keep my feet warm.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Need more layers.

They weren't as warm as I hoped. Received them just in time for 20 degree weather for a couple of weeks at a time so had to wear more than one base layer. They were comfortable and helpful but not for very cold weather per se.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • old

Not a heavyweight: thermal underwear

Was looking for a heavy base layer that was cheaper than my Under Armor 3.0 pants. I find that $90 is way too much for plain pants, but they are noticeably thinner than UA. I would say they are closer to the base layers of UA 1.0. Ok for the price but misleading for the heavyweight claim.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Speed

Featherweight for Men

The last word that comes to mind when trying on is "heavyweight”. I have shirts heavier than this. I'm writing this review from a tree in 50 degree weather and I'm cold. Pretty disappointed in these. Would definitely return them if I didn't have to learn the hard way that they're rubbish. If you're buying them to try and keep warm, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a thin primer for early season hunting I can see where they might fit, but it's definitely not what they advertise.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • High price

read reviews. not recommended

Why does Carhartt have such a good reputation? Have never been satisfied with their products. These base layers are no exception. They are not "heavy". The material is thin. The material is loose and does not compress the skin, creating dead (cold) air pockets. I wore them at 20 degrees with thick wool trousers (Woolrich). and my feet were cold. Have had a pair of Cabela Polar watches for over 20 years and they are the best. I do not recommend these base layer pants or any other Carhartt…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Expensive

No warmer than traditional, less expensive "waffle weave " briefs.

Light, true to size, comfortable. I bought these for my adult grandson who works outside every day in Illinois cold weather. I was disappointed when my grandson told me that these expensive thermal pants were no warmer than the other two traditional underpants I bought him; especially when traditional sets are a quarter of the price. I expected the Carhartt name to mean quality. I don't recommend you to spend money if you don't want light pants to be worn under ski pants.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Useless functions

Easy, not heavy. The price is overpriced for what you get.

I expected more from Carhartt. There's no way they're even remotely heavy. maybe a heavier light weight, but NOT a heavy weight. They are only 20% wool on the front, not on the left side. This means that they only have 10% wool. I've worn them in a heated motel room and worn them under sheets and a comforter when I slept and they were warm, but when it's cold they don't keep you warm. And I'm in California! A little tight at first but too small in the crotch and buttocks and they pull up the…

Very impressed underwear

5ft 10in 165lbs I ordered a small and a medium size as it has a medium fit. I usually wear a medium shade on Carhartt products and decided to just try both to see which one suits better. The little one fits well with just a bottle neck around the waist. It is not enough to cause problems when carrying a backpack during the hunting season. The medium also fits well, just a little looser. If you layer your clothes properly, it works great! If you plan on doing activities that will make you sweat…

  • Everything is fine!
