Surprisingly good :)

Very large and clear view, light works great, I can see sweat cracks where the heat has cracked the heat affected zone which helps me identify the correct fill material. This probably doesn't tell you anything, but just know that this little zoom tool works amazingly.

Very good 20x scope

This is a very good 20x loupe, and unlike some of the cheap "20x" or "30x" loupes that I bought, the markings look accurate. It's good to have built-in white and UV LEDs, although the white LED next to the lens is really too bright and the UV LED too far from the lens for practical use. The adjustable focus is very useful, although a little more working distance would be nice (objects have to practically touch the plastic body to be focused). But all in all, the Carson MicroMini 20x is worth…

Pictures via my Android phone

I love this small pocket microscope with 20x magnification and it often accompanies me in my bag. The pictures were taken with my Samsung Android phone, the cheapest they sold. The images show a small spider, an aquatic insect (a mayfly? a dragonfly?) and the root hairs of a germinating seed. It can be difficult for kids to use their phone, but it should be easy enough to explore the things they have in their hands. I find it easier to shape my hand, insert the microscope, and focus by moving…

as easy to use as a magnifying glass

I recently bought a Carson 60-120x pocket microscope. In order to see a hand-held object, such as the edge of a knife blade, I found it too difficult to get the object into the tiny field of view and focus. I was impressed by the quality so I tried their 20x microscope. It's just as easy to use as a 10x loupe and I see a lot better. The field of view is approx. 3mm and the focusing is very gentle. When I place the microscope on the printed paper, it comes into focus when the wheel is turned…

Works well and very easy to use.

This small 20x magnifier is unlike other, more powerful, Carson mini-microscopes. Other, more powerful ones use a very small objective lens along with a bright LED to provide the light needed to compensate for the small objective lens. With other pocket microscopes, small lenses make focusing much easier. This small 20x keychain magnifier uses a more traditional lens arrangement, most likely two lenses, one is the objective and the other is the eyepiece. The lens is believed to be around 13mm…

Super cool on microscopes

It hasn't gained as much weight as I was hoping but it's super cool. You get a lot of fun and creativity for the money you spend, and it's really easy to use. It's certainly not as good as a regular microscope, but for the price you're getting a really good deal in my opinion. It gives you a new perspective on everyday things in a unique way, it's way better than my phone's camera zoom, so without it I couldn't see things like this. Taking photos is very easy, which I really like! It's super…

Perfect travel size for a creepy tick check

Bought a magnifying glass for my 6 year old daughter on a whim to examine leaves, bugs, her skin and anything little kids love to explore. Works great for that. BUT. I steal it all the time to explore the world. :) TICK CHECKER - We found a tick on the back of her ear the other day and used this magnifying glass to determine the type of tick and the number of days she's been feeding on it. Bought 3 more to give to family members and would highly recommend. Cheap, small and so useful (See…

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • Having trouble

This item was intended as a gift for my 4 year old grandson who is discovering the magic of binoculars, magnifying glasses and microscopes! What a disappointment for him, when he opened this gift, it was not possible to find it at all! The small LED did NOT light up no matter how we fiddled with the toggle switch. The focus ring did NOT change magnification and was permanently set to BLUR. Then the bunch of keys fell off! EPIC MISTAKE! I ended up buying him some great kids binoculars for his…

One of the best investments I've made as a teacher

I don't often write reviews as I rarely find a product that exceeds my expectations. However, these little microscopes deserve a mention. I'm a substitute teacher and one of my passions is bringing things into the classroom that kids just don't see. Stressed teachers are so obsessed with tests, deadlines, general bullshit, rebellious parents, disrespectful students and the like that they don't have the free time to push their limits and show the kids something new, and they don't have no…
