When I set this alarm up correctly and after completing the self test, it went off immediately and gave off a red halo with the sound of "Didde". At first I thought the alarm was broken and tried resetting the self test but the alarm was still there. At this point I found that the gas stove did not turn off, but the fire disappeared and immediately eliminated the hidden malfunction, the alarm started working again. Thank you for a great product.

So at 20:14/20 Hyacinth Tech performed a 7 month inspection of our NEW unit. He smelled gas and thought it might be right after or before a cycle. He couldn't replicate. While testing the device, I found that unless you're in the same room with the alarm, the sound of the alarm is unlikely to be heard. According to the specification it is a 70 dB sonar. With a sound level meter weighed from just 3 feet away, the sounder actually peaked at 70dB, but in my opinion that's not enough at all.
