Find DIP Switches

We bought this to replace a seven year old. I was a little different from the original. The old one had dip switches, the new one didn't. I contacted Minka and "chatted" with the tech who explained that I got the correct switch given the fan model, but the DIP switches are now on the front under the appearance cover. After I rearranged the DIP switches to match the old ones, everything worked fine.

Glows brightly. A little annoying switch, but it works.

The switch works, but it's huge and it's annoying to turn the light on and off with a squishy rubber button. I'd rather have a real switch with some resistance. The switch has a super bright blue light that is on all the time. Annoying bedroom decoration and waste of energy. Make the keys hard, not soft rubber, and remove the glowing switch. The switch is HUGE too. just fit in my box.

Works well - after I changed the frequency

This wall switch works as expected and provides a quick way to control the fan and lights if the remote is lost or the battery is low. Once the fan and switch are installed, the light and/or fan will randomly turn on and off. After I changed the frequency for the fan, remote control and wall switch everything was fine. Apparently, this can occur in multi-family houses or multi-family houses with several apartments. My only downside is that this is another device that for some reason has a blue…

Works well but the blue LED is great for the bedroom

The switch was easy to install and worked well, but the blue LED is just goofy. It's too bright for a bedroom and serves no real purpose. It would be nice if there was an option to disable the blue LED, but that's not the case. Pretty handy, I took the whole switch apart and used duct tape to cover the blue LED. This LED was just a very poor design choice. I would avoid doing this if you're installing in a bedroom and aren't willing to dismantle the entire switch to cover the LED.

The fan can now be controlled via a remote control or a wall control.

Purchased for Minka-Aire F844-DK, Light Wave 52" ceiling fan with LED lighting kit, distressed koa finish. Remote control but I wanted also a wall control I contacted the seller before buying the fan and he told me that this wall control is compatible with this fan.I also installed the wall control.Leave the wall control on and the remote works so you use any of them which I wanted a wall control in addition to The remote because the fan it replaced only worked with the remote - there are no…

Easy enough to install and use, hate that they are necessary.

I hate that anyone but cheap fans needs a controller like this these days. I'd rather have 1 switch for the light and 1 switch with a slider for the fan speed. It's technically possible, but they're getting harder and harder. The controller works well but I just hate them in general hence 3 stars. EDIT: I downgraded my rating by another star because I was waiting for a 4 gang faceplate to arrive for installation and this wall control will NOT accept standard faceplate mounting screws. All 3…

The controls are too small. Become Versatile

We often lose our remote control in the bedroom and have found that wall control is vital. This is the recommended control for our fan. It works, but it's not easy. Minka must have missed the usability test of her button design. I have a chubby finger complex trying to push the right buttons. Fan off is a tiny square in the middle that inevitably touches the surrounding options. The light has two buttons that do the same thing - obviously they're for Minka fans with a top and bottom light, but…

More convenient than the remote control

It works and is easy to install. I haven't used the remote control since I bought it. Judging by other reviews, I was almost afraid the blue light would light up my whole house, but it's not really noticeable. The only downside (perhaps more of a fan issue than a distant issue) is how the lights are dimmed. There are two brightness control buttons that look like "brightness up" and "brightness down" but actually do the same thing. You have to hold down either button while the light cycles…

Pros
  • Lighting and ceiling fans
Cons
  • The list is long.

I already have three of them. One for the bedroom fan and two to control a fan in the living room. They are easy to install and only require power and ground (no neutral used). They work like a remote control so you don't have to connect a fan to it at all. But you can, and then a one-time switch is used to completely turn off the power. You can connect them in series to replace the on/off switch. Just turn on one and then the other. You can prevent interference from multiple fans by adjusting…

Installation Tip Helps

Of the four wall controls I've installed, one made an audible buzz when turned on so I returned and replaced it and the replacement works perfectly. All four now work correctly, although I wish the backlight buttons were larger (perhaps by offsetting them relative to each other) and the power button backlight was muted and turned white instead of blue. If you are replacing an existing wall switch, you may be able to save yourself some frustration by ditching the existing screws that attach the…
