So many sweaters, so little time

Alice Starmore really is a design genius. Don't be fooled by the visual complexity and subtlety of these drawings. All of them, with rare exceptions, are knitted with two strands of yarn at once. She uses 6 to 20+ different shades in different color palettes and makes sweaters with tapestries an eye-catcher. Follow their color recommendations or create your own and you won't be disappointed with the results. If I find myself on a desert island, I'll take this book, my needles, and a boat full…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Excellent historical information and interesting designs

This book is not for beginners in knitting. This is a Celtic knitting tutorial featuring a set of very interesting sweater patterns that need some serious alterations to look modern. The book also contains a lot of interesting historical information. I recommend it to experienced knitters who can take interesting Celtic patterns and give them a more modern look. This book was written in 1993 when we all wore sweaters and jackets at least one size larger.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Great book - buy it while you can!

This is my first Alice Starmore book. I found out about it on a knitting forum. I believe this is the only book by Alice Starmore that is still in print. This is a wonderful book and lives up to the high expectations of Alice Starmore's design on the knitting page. Beautiful sweaters, photographed on models in a breathtaking natural setting. It's a knitting book and a travel book under one cover. Its design is based on traditional motifs found in Irish jewelry and illustrations in ancient Irish

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
