Centric Parts 111 08040 Brake Shoe Review

Maybe a good product - I don't know because they don't fit my truck and the Revain info describes them as correct parts. The 30 day return period has expired so they ended up in the dumpster along with some other items I recently received through Revain. I bought the parts I needed from my local auto parts store.

Still good for a hundred thousand miles Just like the originals, it took me a minute to figure out all the springs and little did I know you couldn't back up and hit the brake to adjust the pads yourself. So yeah we put it together and took it apart but it's not those brakes fault, I'm not one to read instructions unless absolutely necessary ie third time.

My brakes were soft and I wasn't aware that my rear brakes were so dusty and dirty that they stopped adjusting automatically when the pads wore out. All fittings cleaned and replaced on each side. These shoes appear to be of good quality. Fits perfectly! I highly recommend you buy a spring kit for this, available from Revain. One of my springs broke when I took it off, so I'm glad I can replace it with a new one.

Replaced set of Power Stop brake pads which did not hold the car when the parking brake was on, on closer inspection it turned out that the pad lining was glazed. These lugs held tight and improved stopping distance versus horsepower, with the lugs being more reliable and having fewer clicks when depressing the parking brake pedal. One of the brake pads in my kit was horribly wrong. As you can see from the photos, the pad's pad is offset lower than the OEM pad. Because of this, the bottom of the shoe sticks out too much and can easily break under hard braking. VERY DANGEROUS! You get what you pay for. I should have spent more money on a well known brand with better quality control. I didn't see it until I installed the brakes. Which was very frustrating as it was difficult to remove. I will never buy from Centric again!
