Doesn't work for me.

I dug up an Apple iSight webcam for use with my Mac mini (Late 2014) because you can't buy either of these things right now due to the COVID-19 crisis and people working from home. It worked with an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to FireWire adapter, a FireWire 800-400 cable, and a Newertech hard drive enclosure with FireWire 400 ports. I figured I could eliminate clutter and possibly some electronic interference by using this case cut out adapter. but my mini couldn't see the camera anymore. The adapterโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Works with standard FW400 female 6-pin cables and FW800 female 9-pin cables.
Cons
  • Neutral

Worked for me for computer accessories and peripherals

It was cheap and did exactly what it was supposed to. I migrated from an old MacBook Pro that won't boot (except in target disk mode - hold the T key and turn it on) and an older iMac. Older models only gave me the FireWire option. One for 400, the other for 800. Hence the need for an adapter. worked fine

Pros
  • Designed for Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac and all other computers
Cons
  • No insurance

works but does not work well with computers and accessories

This worked fine. Converts an old FW400 cable to a FW800 Thunderbolt Adapter on a MacBook Pro. My only complaint is that the connections are very tight - difficult to insert the cable and difficult to get the adapter into the FW800 port. But it works and I think it's good value for money.

Pros
  • Transfer data from older Firewire devices such as digital camcorders, external hard drives, Macs and more at high data rates!!
Cons
  • Some flaws

Not great, but gets the job done

Does the job but is cheap and unreliable. As others have reported, it doesn't exactly fit the connector. If you use this a lot, I would suggest trying another solution. It looks like it will damage the connector with prolonged use as it is loose in the connector.

Pros
  • Connect legacy Firewire 400 ports to the new Firewire 800 standard with this connector.
Cons
  • Poor Instructions

Works just like my old Sonnet adapter

I needed to connect my old Presonus Firepods (FP-10) audio interfaces to my old Mac Pro (2012). Presonus Firepods have 6-pin FireWire 400 ports and my Mac Pro has FireWire 800 ports and this little adapter did the trick. Firepods can be daisy chained but they won't run at 96kHz when connected in a daisy chain, but they work great when connected separately (the Mac Pro has 4 FireWire 800 ports). I did a few recordings (24 channels) and the old Presonus Firepods sound really good considering they

Cons
  • Not reliable
