Perfect for what they do

This is my second pair and for opening and closing a decorative chain for hanging lights they are great. Sometimes, depending on the chain's design, I sealed them with tape so as not to damage the painted surface. This is much better than using linemen or needles. They apply constant pressure and open and close the limbs easily.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not the best

Great tool for hand tools

Very specialized but perfect for opening chain links. I had a sore hand using end cutters to cut hundreds of chain links so I bought these hoping it would require less hand pressure. And so it was. Much more convenient to use, less strain on your hand. It might not be worth it unless you have a lot of chain links to open, which I did. Very happy with the purchase. Durable and well made.

I have a thick metal chandelier chain and thin arms.

Bought a new chandelier for the dining room. What I didn't realize was how thick and thick the chain that came with it was. I couldn't open it with regular pliers without damaging the finish. But with this tool, opening and closing has become so easy. It is worth buying this tool. The price was right and the shipping from Revain was fast too.

  • Handsfree

I must have a tool when attaching a gift chain

If you only use it once, you'll appreciate it. For years I have used pliers to disconnect and connect the chain. I've always had tool marks and always deformed them a bit when using regular pliers no matter how careful you are. This tool does an excellent job of disconnecting and reconnecting, no trace of the tool and looks like it came from the factory. Surprised they aren't available in HW stores.

Chain Pliers Perfect

They are great. Very powerful and well made, perfect for opening and closing chandelier chains. In fact, there was an electrician in the house today and he borrowed them because I hid them. He said he likes them better than the ones he uses because they are more durable and thicker so I sent him a link to buy a pair. These won't be hard to come by if you've ever had a chain to work with.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Older model

DURABLE, EASY TO USE, HAPPY HANDS AND CLEAN SURFACES.

I love this product! ❀ How many times have I tried to open these decorative chains with pair of pliers, but ended up with scratched, dented and uneven chains on my lamp cords. WOW, WOW, WOW, not this time. It was so easy to use this tool. The fastening chain pliers are durable and have soft handles that won't strain your hand. You can get a neat clasp from the link. Worth the price. ❀❀❀

Will do the job with pliers

I needed to hang a chandelier and the instructions that came with it said nothing about how to attach or adjust the chain. Googling I found the advice to use two pliers to bend the limb. I tried it at an old college and it wasn't as easy as it seemed. I could have all the thumbs ups, or maybe being an electrician who has to do this several times a week helps. Further googling revealed that there is a special tool for opening and closing links - chain pliers. Of course, I wanted to finish the…

Westinghouse 70099 7 " Chain Pliers

I have had a pair of these Westinghouse brand 70099 chain pliers for a few years and they are very useful. These pliers are great for a quick clean job. Opening and closing of Links when adjusting chain length for pendant lights such as chandeliers When used correctly they will not mar or scratch the surface of a polished brass chain or mar the finish of lacquered or plated chain This tool is imported and I have seen the same pliers sold under different brand names and too been sold at…
