Description of ๐Ÿšต Challenge Gravel Grinder Race Tire 700x38C: Folding Clincher for Ultimate Performance and Durability in Vulcanized Nylon, 120TPI, in Sleek Black

Make your mark on the gravel scene with the Gravel Grinder. This tire combines a fast rolling diamond center with aggressive shoulder knobs that only hook-up when the terrain gets soft, muddy, or a bit sketchy. This clincher with 120TPI nylon casing provides both performance and durability. Includes PPS, a Puncture Protection System placed between the tread and casing to increase resistance to punctures.

Worked great! fit for sport

These tires were fantastic at the 2016 Land Run 100! They did a good job getting rid of the dirt and I had no problems with the clutch.

Easy install and durability

Replaced rear wheel due to wear but these tires are great. I have used them on road and gravel and I have to say they are fantastic.

Great grip: tires and tubes

I fitted this tire to the rear of my Trek Dual Sport when the original tire became worn. I ride a lot on gravel/dirt/grass and some all-weather roads. The gravel hill, which used to give me a lot of work climbing, felt like I was taking off. I picked it up and rode it just after the snow fell. Wet grave, puddles, muddy gravel - I tried to see if I could slide it out, but it held up well. It also handles well on the road. It's like having a new, bouncier, more fun bike.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Available in white only

Best gravel tires I've ridden

Probably not as soft as the ultra high (320?) TPI open tubes, but they delaminate and the tread comes off when you use them overtake some serious miles on them. They're vulcanized, so it can't be. They are still reasonably comfortable and handle the MN's gravel turns well. They are also very light, which helps with climbing. I've probably ridden them 200 miles on gravel and another 150 on tarmac. Right now they are better in every way (as rough on MN gravel but not too sharp) than the MSOโ€ฆ

Pros
  • One year test ride
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something

I bought them to replace a set of Challenge Almanzo tires. Almanzos were great but too narrow for mixed loose gravel (up to 1/2 inch) ) that are part of the Bay Trail (in the Mountain View, California area), I also had to replace the Almanzo because one of them was chipping (!) which is one of the problems with these tires, 50 psi front and 55 rear, my 2 hour ride (with a strong headwind) on the Bay Trail is much nicer. I have not tried these tires with any form of climbing (Bay Trail is mostly

Great gravel tires.

Swapped out the Specialized 33mm OEM tires for the Crux and they greatly improved grip on fresh gravel climbs. We also had the opportunity to use them on some country roads where we encountered grass, mud, ruts, still water, sand and creeks. and in general they did well on all surfaces. They were a bit slippery in thick mud but much better than I expected and I had no problem scaling them. I am currently using them with flat latex tubes on the inside which seems like a good combination. Overall

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Lightly dented
