Thanks for the strong plugs!

As most F150 owners know, 2004 thru 2008 models are notorious for bad spark plugs. Luckily when I changed mine the previous owner was smart enough to use it. Didn't break anything. I love these plugs.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

No complaints so far, happy rider

I chose these because they are solid. I've followed FORD's TSB to remove the OEM (took a day and a half, left the solvent for a couple of hours and two plugs overnight, didn't have a break) and I won't use them unless I'm forced to Resoldered to 45 thousandths, lubricated on the smooth part of the tip, twisted to norm and no problems.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Out of style

Don't Buy Champions Spark Plugs DON'T DO THIS

After changing my spark plugs in my 2007 F-150 it was a nightmare whatever you do don't build these champions in within two months Her Ford a I changed all 8 blown spark plugs, never spent more money on spark plugs in my life, 4 blew and started misfiring, replaced them with the same type of plugs and paid $22 for the plugs at O'Reillys, Don . Don't waste your money, buy One Peace E3 spark plugs for your Ford F-150.

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • 0

Just-in-time dispatch. The spark plugs are well made making the two piece spark plugs that Ford originally used safe to use. Not sure if I'm lucky or unlucky others, but I haven't had any misfires or other performance issues that others have mentioned. At the same time, I ordered a removal tool (I was dying to remove it and broke 4) as there were over 90,000 on the car with original connectors. As soon as I pulled out the old ones, they stood up straight away and worked fine.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Fine

Lasted less than a month

Installed it on a 2006 F-150 5.4L Triton engine instead of a Motorcraft 515 engine because the champ is one piece and won't break. At first they seemed great spark plugs, but after about 3 weeks I started having intermittent misfires. Eventually (over the course of about 3 days) it got so bad that the code set and engine light came on. I pulled the spark plug out of the misfiring cylinder and found that the tip of the electrode was completely gone. I pulled out another plug and found the sameโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I really don't like it, it's ok

Nothing broke this time.I am considering replacing after about 50,000 km

is my second set of 7989s. Shortly after I bought my truck I found out about the spark plug problem, I removed (a few broken) the original 30,000 mile spark plugs and installed a 7989 kit with TSB anti-seize compound. This week I replaced that kit with a new 7989 94k mile kit. Although the spark plugs are rated for 100,000 miles, I felt it wise to avoid problems. 7989 did its job; None broke during removal. This does not mean that they came out easily. They made a similar sound to the originalโ€ฆ

Pros
  • inspires confidence
Cons
  • there are more interesting options.
