Great little tool, suitable for cutlery and knife accessories

Missed my only sharpener but this one is so much better than my old one. I've always found one great, but this one definitely knocks it out of the water. It's affordable and convenient for easy on-the-go sharpening. I usually sharpen my knives multiple times when slicing meat, so this is great as it has a small footprint and sharpens them quickly.

My poor Henckle knives have been left unused for so long they're almost useless. In the end I broke down and bought a good electric sharpener to make things easier. Wow! It took a few extra passes but the knives are like new and surprisingly sharp! I even polished some of the other serrated blades that had burrs preventing them from working properly. They are like new now. Amazing product!

Great house sharpener. Really sharp knives are coming - be careful

Great for a home sharpener. Some of the knives sharpened with this device may be as sharp as ever. No, these are not handles. This is my point of view. Knives in the middle of a pack will get incredibly sharp without damaging the blade if you follow the directions. Be sure to let others using the knives know they've been sharpened - there's no second chance - the blade will cut through what's underneath. .

Met my expectations

I've never learned how to use a whetstone properly so I decided to give this knife sharpener a try. I practiced on some old knives that were taking up space and were no longer used. It took a few passes to learn how to properly wield the knife with the right (but light) pressure and timing, but I got my way in the end. It's definitely not an everyday tool, but a great alternative for picking up all my dull knives and taking them to the local sharpener ($$$).

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Excellent 15 and 20 degree knife sharpener very easy to use

This brand sells about 30 different electric knife sharpeners. I spent many hours comparing them before purchasing this one. Most models are either 15 degrees or 20 degrees sharpened, but not both. Old American or European kitchen, pocket or hunting knives have a temperature of 20 degrees. Asian knives 15 degrees. Almost all new kitchen knives have a sharpening angle of 15 degrees. I wanted to be able to sharpen both. This model, the Chef's Choice 290, works at both 15 and 20 degrees and does…

Amazing tool: replaces everything else

I'm 70 years old and have been playing with various knife sharpening systems, Arkansas stones and whatnot for 50 years. Recommended to me by my friend Louise, I bought one and within 20 minutes all my kitchen knives were razor sharp, maybe even sharper than ever. I have a fine collection of modern and vintage carbon brands from Sabatier, Thiers-Issard, Zwilling-Henckels and more. Read the instructions for use carefully, especially which knives meet the Asian, narrower standard, and which meet…

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Not automatic

PROS -15 and 20 degree angles for 2 different knife styles The sharpest knives I've ever had for 10 cons - seems a bit pricey for the $60 I paid. I have used other knife sharpeners and thought I could make my knives sharper, it has made some of my knives sharper than I have ever seen in the 10 years I have had them. It's hard to describe how keen some of them have gotten. I think the best description I can give is that for the past 10 years my knives have felt like I'm cutting something, I've…
