I hate bamboo/wooden needles, especially HDN; they bend, dull and break. I even managed to split their ends when I did something. But not this one! I am an experienced knitter who has used wooden, aluminum, bamboo, steel, plastic and even casein socks with caramel colored needles. These measures are good. No bending to small needles. The surface is smooth, but with a wool blend (the only fiber I've tried) the needles aren't too slippery.
