precise and life changing

I met her on the Style Sew Me YouTube channel. As a beginner I only used plain white chalk (e.g. for blackboards). While it was better than nothing, the markings were never accurate enough. Well this item makes VERY precise lines and now that I've had it for a month it has changed everything. I will keep using them until they break. And then maybe buy more!

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Better than expected

It wasn't what I expected at all, it's even better. I thought it looked more like a pen or marker, but it's actually a roll of chalk powder inside. It works well with dark colors. I gave it 4 stars just for ease of use because the roller wheel gets a little stuck at times and it really is best with a straight edge, not so much in hand as a pen or pencil would be better to use

Pros
  • Normal price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works better than any other method I've tried

I am very happy with this Chaco marker. However, there are several tricks to using it: it only works in one direction; light pressure works better than hard pressure; and it works best when your fabric is on top of other layers of fabric rather than a solid surface. I'm not thrilled that it's filled with talc rather than chalk. The end unscrews though, so I'll probably try to fill it with cornstarch at some point.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Where have you been all my life?

O. My. These Chaco inserts are without a doubt the best marking tools. I've tried pens, pencils, regular chalk, whatever. As if by magic, these little things fall onto the elastic and dark fabric. The small gear spins smoothly and dispenses just the right amount of chalk. I have white and yellow and both are great for marking on dark fabrics like stretch velvet. I used to be unable to mark anything properly on dark stretch velvet - thanks to them it's easy now. The tip is narrow so you can get…

My workflow is still imperfect. Probably best for hard tissue only.

Mech. I don't know why so many people are in love with him. My workflow is still imperfect. It's like a little pizza wheel, and it's the friction against the fabric that turns the wheel that "grabs" the chalk on its way. Yes, the line is sharp, but only some fabrics. With jersey, the fabric stretches because the bike is a bit stiff. Then the chalk does not come out. I also worry about using this on my fine fabrics because it looks like it will just rip the chiffon if you use enough force to…

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Previous model

very useful

Got this based on recommendations. I usually use chalk, tracing paper, or something similar to transfer the markings to the fabric (usually clothing) as I sew. This is great for drawing a line without grabbing the fabric and pulling it out of the horizontal position. There's a kind of wheel that spreads the chalk and makes a line. It only seems to go one way though, so you'll have to keep figuring out which way it goes, or label the handle somehow so it's always obvious to you. It makes a good…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
