Quality Product: Bits

Bit went on the router shortly after it arrived I cut 12 two foot slots in almost 2 inches thick cherries with a grooving tool. The chisel easily cut through the cherry leaving a very smooth surface on the inside of the slots. The bit did not become blunt or hot. like the bit he replaced. Will buy more CMT cutters.

Pros
  • CMT bits have been voted the best compared to other brands (Wood magazine test)
Cons
  • Doubtful

CMT is a leading manufacturer of milling cutters.

If it's orange and says CMT, we'll buy it. CMT makes some of the best routers. With over twenty of them in our cutter collection, they have become our favorite brand. There are several manufacturers that make excellent cutters. CMT is one of our favorites. If we can't find a CMT bit that will do the job for us, we'll buy Whiteside. But SMT comes first!

Pros
  • Smooth and precise cut Exceptional chip control for a cleaner, more stable cut
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Remember I've used this cutter to cut into all sorts of different hardwoods. Anything from desert ironwood (extremely hard dense blunt incisors) walnut, hard maple, padauk, elder burl, bigleaf maple burl, quilted maple etc etc etc. Name woods other than ipe and I've been cutting with the same router for probably x months . When preparing the blanks, I…

Pros
  • 2 1/2 inch cutting length, 4 3/8 inch length, 2 cutting edges
Cons
  • Large and bulky
