Good design good for bike brakes and parts

They are way better than the broken and worn stock brakes on my bike. My bearings had plastic parts but they all use metal and are more durable. The price is great too.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Adjusting the brakes on a bike Brakes and parts

Adjusting the brakes is not difficult unless both sides of the brake are applied to compress the wheel. I recommend lubricating the 3-bolt shaft when installing the brake assembly.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not bad

All metal and a decent pad.

V-brakes are not rocket science. All you need are long levers and a decent shoe, and these brakes will bring you joy. All-metal construction and grippy pad. They are ideal for retrofits or upgrades to V-brakes with short levers and plastic components. Combine that with some decent leverage and you're done.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

one of each pair was good

They looked great right away. Unfortunately they didn't make it. Two sets came in a box, and one of each pair was convenient to use. The other two either had a weak spring or a bent dowel pin and a sticky inner sleeve. The pads were fine and all the hardware was fine, but a set (not two) was almost $20. Otherwise I would rate 5. It would be nice.

Pros
  • great for a small house
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Good breaks. Excellent price.

These are good breaks. No instructions or tools, but changing breaks is really something you should only do if you know what you're doing. I found them to be of good quality and all parts were present and well packaged. I would buy them again and can recommend them. Remember this is not a downhill or race. They are inexpensive, good quality replacements for the average user. No complaints.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Pretty Good: Rim Brake Kits

So these brakes are pretty good. They replaced some of the old, worn out Tectros from the late 90's. The pads are quite grippy. Not the best of the line, but way better than big-box stuff and entry-level big names. I might not use them in a race car but for the average commuter and just for city driving. I built them on a rebuilt SS using inexpensive parts from Revain. This is a relatively old technology, but the quality is still pretty good.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Protection

Really good price

I bought these to replace the stock V-brakes on a 26" Huffy. Aside from one of the old calipers getting rusty on the strut, the install was pretty easy. Your results may vary as I have a lot of experience servicing and repairing bikes. I usually buy brands like Shimano but this was a free upgrade for my daughter's friend so I wanted to keep the price down. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these brakes. They are smooth, grippy and appear to be made of good materials. Keep in mind…

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Some difficulties
