Excellent step drill with 4-20 mm tan coating

I ordered a 4-20mm step drill with a titanium coating on Aliexpress. Vastar brand. Came fairly quickly. I ordered it on 11/11/2019, it came on 11/26/2019 for only 165 rubles. You can order 3 sizes: 4-12mm, 4-20mm, 4-32mm. Suitable for deburring holes, filling holes, making holes more eleptic. Can be used on metal, aluminium, brass, wood. The drilling pitch for my case is 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 20mm. The drill is convenient because it is not necessary to change drills for…

Pros
  • Drill different holes with one mono drill.
Cons
  • Small minus: for drilling in metal, you need a dent punch or make a notch with a thinner drill.

subject of the transaction. NOT for hard materials.

Excellent value for money. However, if you intend to use them on tougher materials (like 316L or 304 stainless steel), think again. I've used them on aluminum and they work great. Various gauges like 3/8" and under worked fine. Unfortunately, after just one use on 1/8" type 316L stainless steel, it was destroyed with a larger cutter. See photo. Same goes for the slightly thinner 3/32" stainless steel type 316L. Look at the picture of the broken 3/16-7/8 bit. In short, soft materials are great…

The bits are so good that you can drill with other drilling tools. Manual

I wanted to widen the 5/16" hole in the stainless steel wrench to 1/2" and needed the hole to remain perpendicular to the top and bottom of the wrench. Wrench into a vise for a drill press, then with a 1/8" - 1/2" drill bit I was able to do exactly what I wanted in 5 minutes. hand drill! I didn't even sweat. Other black oxide coated HSS, titanium nitride coated HSS, spray painted Chinesium Speed Steel, etc. The step drill bits I've used puff and require a lot of downward pressure to move…

Not bad for light use.

First of all: For the price of this kit you have to live up to your expectations. I have a few individual baits and drills that cost more than this whole set. The bits I received are primarily used for cutting aluminum and plastic, but I've also cut some mild steel. Lead cuts very nice clean holes and cuts fast when sharp. The metal is not of the highest quality and when cutting steel they dull a bit quickly. I think stainless steel would be really tough on them. Because of the way they are…

  • There are other interesting options.

Buyer Beware Not Cobalt

Bought to drill a soap dispenser into a stainless steel sink. I pre-drilled the hole with a drill with no problems. No heat just cutting. I then used this bit, slowly drilled with some cutting fluid and was still hot enough to stain my new sink and I'm still 1/4 inch from the correct hole size. I am returning these bits and I need to buy a bit that can cut stupid 16 gauge steel. It's once and roll the dice if they can get you to do it once. They look nice but cannot complete the work. I don't…

Not for heavy use

Along the way I had to drill a 7/8" hole into a previous 3/4" hole in 1/4" thick steel plate. I thought beat #5 would work well since it's the last and biggest step - 7/8. All I had to do was drill the hole from 3/4 to 7/8. I use a good cutting oil and made the first 3 cuts great. Then at 4 it only got worse and by 5 I was getting nothing but smoke. I think they're probably good for thinner, softer metals and wood, but not anything thicker. UPDATE: Banyan contacted me about my issue. I…

NOT for mild steel (1/8 ")

I drilled a 11/16" diameter hole (my first ever hole drilled with a new bit set) in a vertical pallet rack that like a 1/ 16 inch. 8" mild steel. He broke the chisel (from 3/16 to 7/8) at 5/8 and 11/16 as shown in the first picture. I had to use a second chisel (1/4 to 3/4). bit) to finish the hole and it will damage this bit even if I drill ONE hole I understand that for $21 I shouldn't expect too much but spending 2 bits per hole forces me to get a macro lens to take pics to share my…
