Prevents whiplash in dogs

I have a Boston Terrier, about 25lbs that I walked 100ft while we built the house and currently live back with my parents (hooray!). My dog is very hyperactive and this has held up well to her full pull on the leash. This mitigates the initial shock of stopping the leash and gives my dog a nice bungee ride instead of grabbing for somersaults. It has been outdoors in heavy rain for 3 months and has shown no rust.

Partial solution only

My dog will walk to the end of this cable and I'm surprised he didn't hurt himself so I bought this spring to absorb the shock when he reaches the end. But even though it helps, it still crashes sometimes. I'm going to combine this with the bungee, which I also talk about on Revain. I could keep the dog inside, but she likes to be outside when I'm working in the garden or garage, so I'm interested in a good solution. This product more or less does what it's supposed to, but it's not perfect orโ€ฆ

Snap broke in the first week

I've had one of these for at least 15 years. (The old one had a brass latch/clip, I couldn't find one.) Eventually the latch in the clip broke - the spring on it came out - so I replaced it with this item. My 60 lb pup ran to the end of her leash and the latch/clip snapped in half. What junk. Luckily I never tie my dogs when I'm not around, but I wouldn't trust this article to any dog over thirty pounds or so. My pup wasn't even running as fast as she could when she grabbed him. It broke at the

Very well made, great product.

This is very good for your dog not to break his chain or his neck when chasing someone. My dog is a bulldog boxer and we usually put him in a chain that breaks so he doesn't hurt himself when he's chasing something if the chain is restricting him, but since he bought this his chain hasn't broken and we I did even longer to give him more room to run. It would be nice if our local pet stores carried it so he would have bought it a long time ago. This is a great product, its chain no longerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Minor problems

My dog was tied to a cable in the backyard about 30 feet from me while I was picking blackberries. I'm very careful with that. He never leaves the leash and never goes outside unsupervised. We live in a rural area with little traffic and when he heard a dump truck drive by he ran to check on it. As soon as he hit the end of the cable attached to that shock spring, it burst. I couldn't grab him fast enough and he ran down the street dragging a 30 foot cable. Since that part failed, he could have
